President Tinubu approves the immediate release of 102,000 metric tonnes of rice and maize from the National Food Reserves to boost food availability in the country.

President Tinubu also proposed to embark on importation of whatever shortfalls that may be experienced.

President Tinubu has ordered the release of food items from the national food reserves to boost availability and cut down prices across the nation.

Information Minister Malam Mohammed Idris, who made the disclosure, stated that the government is taking steps to address the issue, including releasing food from storage facilities and talking to millers and traders.

States and local governments will also be involved in this process.

Deployments of the items to various states would be monitored by the federal government.

There is coming following the protests in Niger and Kano states where residents took to the streets to protest rising cost of food in the country.

According to figures from the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS), Nigeria’s inflation rate has climbed to approximately 30%, largely driven by the increasing cost of food.

I honestly didn't know Nigeria has food reserves.

Abi na audio food reserves?

Who will share the food? On what criteria will the food be shared? How can you ensure the poor gets the food? Will it be sold to vendors who will conceal the source and mercilessly hike the price?

Will it be like the audio free transportation you gave Nigerians during Christmas? Who under this thread benefited from the Christmas free transportation scheme?

Audio food reserve. APC will share one mudu of rice and beans full of stones and they will claim it is from the food reserve. Ebola Tinubu is the worst calamity to have ever befallen Nigeria.

Still yet you won't hear of anyone benefitting from it. It's only a short term plan. What happens next after that?
Oga open Seme border for importation of basic food and watch how food prices will crash. No matter how we try to pretend, Nigerian farmers cannot feed the whole nation on certain basic food stuff.

Nonsense and food reserves

There is no good thing that will be pragmatically given to the poor by these heartless criminals. It's either the president reverse the subsidy removal or he step aside

Food reserve is meant to be a back up should there be crises in the country. Now that you are using the food reserve now, what will happen after it is exhausted?

Solving a long term problem with a short term solution.

-- It is easier to turn a blind eyes to the obvious problems ---

1. Insecurity on our farm lands. ~` Provide local security and vigilantes to farmers

2. Little to no, mechanized farming ~ Youths are not interested farming because it is not mechanized and older people who are there do not have the strength to meet increasing demand. Providing access to farm equipment will increase yield and bring new players into the system.

3. Bad and inaccessible roads between farms and the urban areas ~ Bad roads causes many farm goods to spoil before they arrive their destination, causing prices to soar. Federal government needs to look into key road networks into rural areas and work out models for state government.

4. Lack of capital to farmers. ~ Inflation is causing a lot of farmers not to meet up, cost per farming hectare has increased in the recent months. There is a need for FG and SG to look into how to assist farmers to increase capacity.

5. High cost of transportation ~ FG can provide subsidized transportation for food transportation using efficient means like railway, trucks and ferries.

6. Provide Tax Breaks to farmers - This will encourage big players into the industry and increase food production.

7. Establish Farm Estates - Setting up farm estates across the country. The farm estate is a full package turn key system (machines, training, loans, security and all farming equipment in one farm area) for small/medium scale where prospective farmers just come in and start farming and everything is provided for. At the end of harvest, the government will off-take (buy) produce from the farmers right on site and the government can offload (sell) the products at a determined market price. This is far better than forcefully trying to control market price. This will cut unemployment drastically and improve agricultural export to high levels.
