Food reserve is meant to be a back up should there be crises in the country. Now that you are using the food reserve now, what will happen after it is exhausted?

Solving a long term problem with a short term solution.

-- It is easier to turn a blind eyes to the obvious problems ---

1. Insecurity on our farm lands. ~` Provide local security and vigilantes to farmers

2. Little to no, mechanized farming ~ Youths are not interested farming because it is not mechanized and older people who are there do not have the strength to meet increasing demand. Providing access to farm equipment will increase yield and bring new players into the system.

3. Bad and inaccessible roads between farms and the urban areas ~ Bad roads causes many farm goods to spoil before they arrive their destination, causing prices to soar. Federal government needs to look into key road networks into rural areas and work out models for state government.

4. Lack of capital to farmers. ~ Inflation is causing a lot of farmers not to meet up, cost per farming hectare has increased in the recent months. There is a need for FG and SG to look into how to assist farmers to increase capacity.

5. High cost of transportation ~ FG can provide subsidized transportation for food transportation using efficient means like railway, trucks and ferries.

6. Provide Tax Breaks to farmers - This will encourage big players into the industry and increase food production.

7. Establish Farm Estates - Setting up farm estates across the country. The farm estate is a full package turn key system (machines, training, loans, security and all farming equipment in one farm area) for small/medium scale where prospective farmers just come in and start farming and everything is provided for. At the end of harvest, the government will off-take (buy) produce from the farmers right on site and the government can offload (sell) the products at a determined market price. This is far better than forcefully trying to control market price. This will cut unemployment drastically and improve agricultural export to high levels.

That won't be enough to cushion the shortfall. I think the best thing for the government to do at this point is to open the border for food items to flood the markets.

I have now concluded that Nigeria currently has the most clueless administration. The root cause of inflation regarding food items in that country is the Forex exchange rate that the CBN is using when clearing goods. In June it was $1/477 then $1/689 afterward $1/982 now $1/1441 why Nigeria is pegging her good clearance to the dollar is beyond my level of comprehension. To reduce inflation why won't the CBN adjust the rate being used when doing Custom clearing? Keep telling yaa this is the result of electing a single-digit IQ person as President.

N1. 57tn should be brought back to pay the subsidy and take everything back to how it was or you increase salary in proportion to the percentage of increase in prices of everything. What is going on now is calamitous. Nigerians are, suffering on their motherland.

Look, where I stay at, assuring the PDP era, the sharing of party largesse was grand.....when APC took over, all you'd notice is the crowd and after decades later the groan of discontentment from sluggish walking members causing the food stuff they received....
I'm not surprised it occurred during COVID era and now when the Palliatives were to be shared.
This one will go the same way........unles
During PDP era at least everyone dey happy unlike what is obtainable under the satanic APC now.

Mr President...your fellow APC politicians will be the beneficiary of this food. You need to just stop giving orders ...you need to find a way the food will get to the poor......

Soon the food will land in some people's store and rot there

The food that will be shared to top civil servant and politicians and at last the food will find its way to the market without any poor people getting a cup of it. Government of proper grander and lies. God will judge you people for bringing this untold hardship on us due to your corrupt and self-centered ambition and dancing to world bank and IMF dictate. No matter the amount of wealth you have accumulate through corruption, you and your children will suffer ten times what you made ordinary Nigeria to suffer, I want there supporter and people facing hardship to say a bigger Amen.

Did you read any part of my statement where I said there is even a food reserve anywhere? Even if there is food reserve it is not meant for this purpose. Food reserve are meant for crises. Unless the FG admits that Nigeria is in a crises.

Which farm, go will see that all your investment on farm will be destroyed by cow from fulani headsmen over a night this is the main cause of food scarcity couple with insurgency and banditry. I don't advice you to go to farm now, cow will finish what you planted and if you need your life don't talk when they do this, attempt to talk will make eliminate you after eating up what you have planted.

Farm Estates sound like a good idea.

Unfortunately, it still hasn't dawned on many good people like you that Nigerian politicians(most especially APC) have no interest whatsoever in bringing people out of poverty.

Impoverished people are very unlikely to rally and vote out corrupt and incompetent leaders.

Even if $ gets to N5k by 2027, you will be shocked to see how many people will support APC in the next election.

Therefore, probably nobody amongst the Federal or State govs is gonna take action to get people economically balanced.
