Throwback:I just pray the rumors are true. We can’t keep doing things the same way. This will go along way to kill the black fx market. No same country allows that. Unauthorized currency merchants breeding sharp practices therefore enabling corrupt politicians . What the hell is dormicillary account. For few years outside Nigeria and traveling I have never heard of such. I can’t even exchange money without an 🆔 card and a limit set on exchanges. |

It's a good policy to bolster the Naira, but the bank that convert my USD to NGN, should be able to provide me with USD if the needs arises. Maybe it is time to reactivate USD transaction on Naira card. |

Its a thoughtless policy. You actually need dollars coming in as thats one of the ways diaspora community helps with foreign currency. What should be discouraged is diaspora paying themselves abroad and transferring naira equivalent back home Throwback: |

cjrane:Tinubu is really falling the little hand I managed to give him!!! If he wants to know how to stabilize the Nigerian economy .......let him stop listening to all these western trained economists and go learn at the feet of Putin the russian president! You cannot halt the fall in the naira without fighting corrupt local oligarchs......these are corrupt business men like Dangote, corrupt niger delta militants working with corrupt military commanders to steal oil, corrupt politicians and of course the ethno religious fulani terrorists who are disrupting agricultural output all over the country! Tinubu has to get a handle on security...immediately he handed the defence ministry and NSA office to northerners, I knew he was toast! All these security posts should be manned by non northerners....ALL i said..............he has not learnt from jonathan's mistakes abi? They are undermining him already.....................He should bring in mercenaries to clear the fulani bandits, while opening dialogue to end all these ethno religious conflicts all over the place! |

Ttalk:I think there's sense in your submission if they can follow it to the letter. But then again, the main target will always be the masses, the less privileged. These policy markers will not adhere and nothing will happen. From tinubu to all members of his household to the rich men and big politicians out there all spend dollars on a daily basis. They have it in their pockets from where they gift anyone they like on the spot. Have you met your president at a party in his heydays? He doesn't spray dancers and drummers naira. He sprays dollars. Naira is too cumbersome for them to carry about. In Ekiti during the last election, dollar was used to buy votes Remember when rotimi Amaechi was spotted with a bundle of dollars sticking out from his pocket in a television interview? These so called Nigerian leaders are the cause of everything wrong with the economy due to their cronyism and fantastic corruption without consequence! |

Hohaiiiode:do you know we have had this policy before and it didn’t help the Naira. The CBN is just clueless. There is also dormicillary account all over the world because US dollar is the international currency for trade. A Chinese supplier will not accept their currency or even our Naira for international trade and they have dormicillary accounts in dollars in china. The solution to help our currency is to reduce demand for dollars by manufacturing our own products and reducing importation to the minimum. We currently import everything and so there will be high demand for dollars which will increase the value of dollars against the naira |

Throwback:And you guys think all that is the problem with the FX and the economy, when we have refused to set up a plan to see we are massively producing and exporting, the reason for the problems we are having this issues is because no dollar earnings is coming in at the moment, our only source of dollars earning which is crude sales is at moment not bringing any money because Buhari administration sold and collected money into the future whatever crude being produced now is to fulfill that contractual agreement. |

Raiders:bro no one need to hold an account in dollar in Nigerian to make payment in dollar for an international trade Or account in yuan in Nigeria to send money to China. Ofcourse there is work to be done to make it more flexible . I make transaction to other countries where I am. And I don’t hold account in the receiving nations currency. I go to the bank and make the payment and specify the recipient currency and the swift code or interbank code or Abn or whatever it is called. Like I said there is work to be done. no one should hodling foreign currencies in Nigerian banks . Haba. I am also guilty of this. I have a dorm account and ofcourse I have dollars in it. But there should be a better ways of doing things for the betterment of our nation. If dorm account should work, no one should cash out in dollar or pounds or any other foreign currency. Cash out its equivalence in naira . We can’t be praying for a better nation and doing things the same ways . Next shout be making different tax regimes and more flexible ofcourse according to work job and earnings . |

Ttalk:He is partly right, the policy will only affect financial illiterates and subsistence dollar holders who don't know their way around. Decrees can't force economic outcomes. Don't get me wrong, this policy will indeed reduce the activities in the physical parallel market for sure but the next question to ask is whether it will increase or decrease forex inflow. |

2Radii:minimum wage in my state of residence California USA is $20 an hour. Some working as CNA in care homes in California gets paid about $25 an hour, 40 hours a week as a full time employee is about 25 X 40 hours: $1000 weekly and that’s about $4000 monthly. Taxes takes about 30 percent of that $4000 so someone works in a home care job makes about $3000 after taxes: That’s about 4.5 million naira monthly which I doubt you make every 4 years in Nigeria at your job |

Hohaiiiode:what I am trying is we have had this policy before and it didn’t help the Naira. I remember sending money from US to Nigeria from 2013 to 2020 and all my receivers got paid in Naira. Yet the naira was still losing value so it’s not like it’s a new CBN policy. Some businesses in Nigeria needs dollars for their legitimate businesses, parents needs dollars to pay for their children school fees abroad. We have too much demand for dollars because WE ARE NOT PRODUCING ANYTHING as a nation. It’s simple economics 101. When the demand for a product is high, prices will go up. We need to start producing and reduce importation to help our currency. We can also get more foreign reserves from sales to other countries if we start producing goods |

It is the most important step in revitalizing the ailing economy, sadly who can go into any form of manufacturing without electricity and security above all , the encompassing infrastructure necessary and policies. In a recent announcement, CBN has found this to be false. While the remittances may themselves be large, CBN has found that they do not end up in Nigeria but in some small island somewhere where as they use the naira equivalent to mop up the remaining available dollar. cjrane: |

BitterTruth01:Stop spewing gibberish ! How many world leaders are Business men Leadership is all about directing "People" and regulating the affairs relative to people ... You seem to be ignorant about many things, there are traders and there entrepreneurs .... traders are limited to market, buy and selling commodity while entrepreneur compasses invention, job creation, selling of goods and "Services" Except you are high on cheap weed you can't tell me your side has more entrepreneurs than SW, google is there but regardless Leadership and business acumen are on different pedestal, people learn trading but leaders are born and chosen Lastly you hardly see countries run purely socialist economy, in a country with full blown greed and get rich quick syndrome Nigeria is not matured for "capitalist", for instance Dangote expliotation is a good example we can't go capitalist. A mix economy is capable of upscaling production where there is intent and willingness |

Ttalk:Why float the Naira and go behind to place restrictions to demand and supply? They can place all the restrictions they can come up with, but the demand will not go away. Because they themselves don't spend Naira. Do you think the president pays Naira for his medical trips overseas, or do you think the payment for Aisha Tinubu's recent birthday party on the island of Greneda was paid in Naira? |

cjrane:You are missing alot of point, about 50% of all the forex trading going on in the past few months, is not serving any economic purpose besides storing wealth that is why the Naira fall is on a whole new dimension One thing you must understand Revenues are the major drive of a bouyant economic not "diaspora remittance" when those money go to local banks and remain dormant they are detrimental to the Naira value You don't see any developed country Opening domiciliary account, can you open a Naira account in US or Uk ... govt must do everything to dissuade spending dollar within a Naira economy that is the surest approach to rebound confidence to Naira. |

Raiders:Bro... You are the one that answered the question. Simple something, they will now be speaking English thinking we don't have sense. All Nigeria needs to do is turn to production and export...... that's all. We will sell it to them in dollars and convert to Naira. After all you can't take the dollars out of the/your economy, that is what you use in trading. |
