Until the bill is passed ,there won't be peace in the land because those kidnapping to take ransom can not turn over a new leave particularly with the present situation of the economy. Yes, as people tell me, and as I tell myself, if my loved one is kidnapped, I will pay ransom...I will look for money and pay. But the problem is, the more we pay the ransom, the more we are encouraging people to go into kidnapping. After all , instead of running a business where your returns are less than 1000 naira, for kidnapping or being part of a kidnap gang, you can get a cool 3 million naira, if not more , or even as high as 500000 naira.

The government is also not serious. A serious government would have set up an antikidnap squad (yes, IRT Is around, but we need something with more teeth). A special forces , with members drawn from the police, army and with tactical support from the airforce, would have them kidnappers down and dusted. But the problem is, people don;t want their loved ones to die, and the truth is, when a rescue effort is mounted, kidnappers can be mad enough to kill their victims first before facing the police. Who would the relations blame? The police. But that does not mean that government should sleep.

All in all, in dealing with this kidnapping, sacrifices must be made.

Exactly. When I saw people trying to crowdfund for the Abuja sisters, I knew we were in deep shit. As our security outfits are overwhelmed already, it seems the pros of kidnapping outweighs the cons. All they should have done was invest genuinely in rural infrastructure and agricultural development,but the animals in charge are still lying to themselves and still ruthlessly syphoning the money for development. Even in the face of an impending total economic collapse,they are still adamant about their methods of embezzling public funds.
