Burkina did well in South Africa, Nigeria had to dig deep to win.
Zambia has won it.

DRC, Mali, Guinea have all benefited from having players in the French league or French plsyers with African roots just like we have the likes of Aina, Aribo, Bassey, Ajayi all playing for Nigeria.

AFCON is a bit like FA cup where countries like Cape Verde, Angola, Equatorial Guinea and even Aubameyang’s Gabon could spring surprises.

Anything can happen in AFCON.

Of course it would be a shock if any of those teams won.
Like I said you can go back to the 80s where Cameron dominated, to the the 90s till now.
Zambia is the only outlier...
If these so called teams can win how come none have even made the final not to talk of actually winning.
This year AFCON you're citing as example, Nigeria and CIV who are the two of the biggest sides in the continent are playing the final as usual.
Cameroun, Ghana, Egypt, Tunisia, Nigeria, CIV, all have been the constants either by making the final or winning it. Morocco and SA last appearance in the final was 04 and 98 respectively.
You can praise the likes of Mali and co but none of em are even in the finals.
So yes it will be shock if these big teams don't make the final

South American football dont have joy, they will kick your legs like mad.
You see the like of Chile, Ecuador, Colombia,Uruguay and Paraguay can beat Brazil or Argentina on any good day. Football in south America is evenly distributed that's why their world cup qualifiers is always the most competitive.

Competitive and Brazil and Argentina always never fail to qualify.

he is right to an extent because all the nations qualify automatically. For this year competition, 4 teams from north America where invited to complete the grouping and still yet some teams still have only 3 teams in that group.

The lesser the teams , the easier it is to win... the more the teams , the harder it is to win...that's simple logic.... copa is simply the easiest... copa is like euros having Germany France Spain Austria Hungary Scotland Poland, Russia and then they invite USA and Mexico.. don't u think it will be very easy to predict the winner?? Every copa final always features either Brazil or Argentina...or even both playing against each other... if that doesn't signal to u that it's the easiest, I wonder what will... that's the only competition I world football that always features same teams in the final
