People are harder on iwobi due to his lazy style of play. For example, Tank onyeka might not be the best passer or creative outlet but he puts his heart on his sleeve. As for iwobi, he needs to search for his best position, improve on his conditioning and fitness training and has some end results. As a center midfielder in 8 games, 0 goals nor assists is hard to forgive

Put Iwobi in an offensive setup with forward runners and watch him perform. He grew up learning an offensive pattern and get stuck with Rohr and Peseiro.

Amedino99:
the thing about this iwobi matter is that the people justifying it are saying it is criticism and it is a big lie considering that whenever we suffer any major loss in football, we don't know how to criticize. we make threats and insult. This is not the first time it would happen to iwobi. After the 2021 afcon outing iwobi and okoye had to lock their accounts because of the insults. One !diot on IG screenrecorded iwobi's page saying that iwobi is not a serious player since his IG is filled with more personal content than football. the people using messi as an example are even funnier. Messi had to be begged back to come and play each time he quit the national team. Anyone saying it's just criticism is just being silly with the truth.

They'll look for every reason to disguise and justify their evil, so it suits them to hide under the umbrella of "constructive criticism."

Unfortunately for them, we know who they are, so no matter how they pretend, they'll only be lying to themselves. I called them cowards for a reason. In fact, they're not only cowards, they're also shameful examples of human beings. No human being with any form of morality and human empathy will justify all the insults Iwobi has received so far.

They threatened Ighalo's family in 2019, threatened Maduka in 2022 and have now decided to pick Iwobi as their new target. Jobless people 🤣.

I mixed up Partey's name, i was actually profiling all the midfielders in Africa, touching also the midfielders that featured in the AFCON. You should have easily seen this, because Nwakali was also in the mix, but you are quick tempered like a child that refused to be bridled by the parents.

Kelechi Nwakali, Alex Iwobi and Ifeanyi Mathew should be starting in a midfield three, If personal interests are to be set aside.

As far as midfield goes, these are the players that should form the core and depth of our MF going forward. Enough of the daft habits of recycling the same 3 or 4 midfielders every time who offers us absolutely no creativity.

1. Iwobi- I honestly don't really rate him that highly as I feel he has fallen off but he still offers experience at least. But to be fair to Iwobi, Peseiro played him out of position at the AFCON and nullified his attacking qualities with all the defensive pivot duties he was tasked with...Iwobi IS NOT A DM, and can't thrive in a 2 man midfield system where he has to press ,Iwobi isn't that guy.

2. Ndidi- The impact of Ndidi can't be emphasized enough, he was sorely missed at the AFCON especially with his experience and improved ability to press high thanks to his Leicester form...An Onyeka/Ndidi anchorship would have given Iwobi more freedom to influence his creative duties more.

3. Frank Onyeka- I believe he announced his name in a big way at the AFCON, absolute Trojan workhorse who gives his all for the team and does the dirty work like no other...Ndidi will find joy pairing with him since he loves to bomb forward to join the attack and can trust Frank the Tank to mop up any mistakes behind him.

4. Michael Folrunsho- Needs no introduction, this is one player who will give you work-rate and a good eye for passing abilities, I don't know why NFF haven't approached and capped him yet when he is still in the fringe radar of Italy.

5. Nwakali- somewhat of an enigma as much as a fan's favorite, in the eyes of many he's supposed to be our own Pirlo...I personally think Nwakali would have fit so perfectly like a glove in that 343 formation Peseiro used at the AFCON...especially when you factor in his set piece abilities and good passing IQ (seems like an opportunity missed).

6. Fisayo Dele-Bashiru- This lad should be tried out as that under-study to Iwobi, not only does he have a good creative ability to his game, he offers work rate as well and can actually pop up with goals here and there. I don't know we never saw more of him after his last cameo in the Mozambique friendly game last year.

6. Tim Iroegbulam- I have watched this kid and he is definitely a baller, he's a perfect modern day Box2Box midfielder who can dribble well and pass brilliantly as well, now back to Aston Villa from loan and he's one to watch...read somewhere he's not far off the radar of an international call up to Nigeria soon.

8. Ifeanyi Matthew- When you want a very cerebral and composed midfielder who plays with the finesse of a prime Mikel, look no further than this lad. I daresay the ONLY reason he has not been called up yet to the SE is because he plays in the Swiss league, and has no connection to "Top Ogas in the NFF" that he can bribe.

Fringe players to be looked at: Daniel Daga, Ebenezer Akinsanmiro, Victor Eletu, Obinna Nwobodo, Ibrahim Olawoyin and Tochukwu Nnadi.

Whoever will be the coach whether Peseiro or not will have to start building our midfield around these players if he really wants to succeed. The only reason we lost that final to Ivory Coast was down to a paper thin and overworked midfield, and we had no bench to balance it out.

Notice how I didn't include Aribo, cause I honestly think he's currently not good enough to be a mainstay player in that team. Aribo needs to fight his way back at his club to prove his hunger cause a division 2 bench warmer who gets sparse minutes every now and then isn't deserving of a place in a serious nation team.

It was reported that some of the English breed boys are ready to switch and turn up for Nigeria … They are already setting their sight on the next Afcon in Morocco 🇲🇦

The list goes thus ,,, Gaby osho & Elijah Adebayo of Luton Town , Tim of Aston villa , Dominic Solanke is also contemplating already…

This is gonna be massive for our national team if we can scoop them all ,,, quality and depth 💪🏽

We have agreed that one dimensional players with just one main skill set are essentially obsolete in the modern game.

Sometimes it takes just 15 minutes to see the core skill sets of a player.

Onyedika is immobile, not particularly fast ,not skilful and with limited technical ability. Strong and physical a big yes.

He doesn't have the attributes for a top level DM Holding Midfielder that can defend attack and orchestrate play from the midfield.

We need to look elsewhere.

I haven't seen much of him to form an opinion on him, so I dunno. However being Fast Paced isn't really required of a holding midfielder since they're not really required to always run around, although being fast paced can also be an added bonus.

Since I already mentioned Onyedika as one, I don't know any other one except Ndidi. However, Ndidi has been injury prone lately. Besides, he's not really a holding midfielder but more of a defensive 8, even though he does tries his best in the holding midfield role.

Same Aribo who had motm as a CM against a star studded Brazilian team? One of the few times a Nigeria player would have such performance against an elite international team as a matter of fact! You must be crazy!

You're saying trash which has no meaning whatsoever.. Question is Has Aribo been good for the Nigeria team? Yes! Which included the last afcon which he heavily featured before the recent one.

A player who was an integral CM in a small Ranger team getting to the Europa final before only losing out in penalty shootout. No wonder Rangers adore him. Point is He wasn't the reason why Nigeria team couldn't win the trophy in the two afcon tournaments he featured. As a matter of fact, He was quite brilliant in the first afcon he featured while in the last afcon, he only started once in a match he dominated the midfield yet was still insulted a lot over it. Lol). That was why I said most of the players have been criticized and insulted, even those that weren't deserving of insult, yet the players get on with it..

Eletu and Akinsanmiro don't need monitoring again but invitation cuz if care is not taken we are not qualifying for WC with our style of play due to poor midfield, losing possession easily in the middle is dangerous.....we need to solve this ASAP.

Sorry but the bolded is far from the truth. It is clear you have never watched Raphael Onyedika. Try to watch his games. His is a quality player and opposite of what you posted.

He is fast. He is skillful. Very skillful for that matter. He is gifted in the short possession play. A tidy short passer. Good for combination build up plays. He is also gifted in delivering long balls and switching play.

Onyedika is also tenacious, a good defender. Also good at box to box runs too.

When it comes to DM/CDM role, it is criminal to start Iwobi ahead of Onyedika in that role.

Watch this clip to have an idea about what Raphael Onyedika offers.

Thomas Partey, Lamine Camara, Pape Matar Sarr and Ibrahim Sangare are the midfielders who were present in this just concluded AFCON, whose style of play impresses me the most.

You know what? Kelechi Nwakali impresses me more than the aforementioned. He is a game controller, and he creates more chances. To control a game you need a good level of technique, this is where he and Thomas Partey towers above the midfielders that I have mentioned.
Which Partey? Partey don get another brother?

In the the final against Cote d'Ivoire, aribo in just 4 minutes made 10 passes which is almost half of Iwobi's 23 passes in 78 minutes while Onyeka made 12 passes in 86 minutes. Imagine if Aribo was on the pitch for longer, he would have at least taken control of the midfield away from Cote d'Ivoire midfield who were having a blast. As I previously stated, Aribo was fantastic as a playmaking CM in the last afcon. With him and Onyedika who's a holding midfielder, Nigeria could control the match at least.
Aribo fan boy.

Nothing to monitor, when they break into the first team and perform, it will be there for all to see.

Do you know how many Nigerian origin teenager are in EPL and Championship academies just way to many to count. I am talking hundreds not 30 or 50.

Nwaneri and Chukwuemeka are up there but there are too many top level England midfielders. And there is no guarantee they can get in.

Look at Kobbie Mainoo Manchester United, 18 years old and first name on the team sheet. Dude is exceptional playing like he has been in the EPL for 10 years. I see him getting capped asap the England players are getting younger.

Don't forget Jude Bellingham at 16 he had played 40+ games in the Championship. Dortmund hurriedly paid £25 million for a 16 year old. Now destroying La Liga with Real Madrid.

So the talent pool in England is massive , there is one Nigerian origin 14 year old at Everton already playing U18's.

Three big disappointments for me among Nigerian origin players were in midfield were :

Oviemuno Ejaria - Petulant ,moody, indisciplined and insubordinate. Are issue's that have truncated his career. But ability undoubted.

Tega Onomah - Pride and lack of diligence too much money too early he has earned near £8millon. And feels too big to drop to certain teams or even go abroad.

Fred Onyedinma - Good kid , wrong career decisions and now way too injury prone. Getting lost in the Championship with Rotherham.

This loss pained me for the players. I wanted them to win something. To taste what it feels like to play football and win. It pained me for the country cos people really needed that joy.

Personality all I can say to the players is thank you, thank you very much. It was one hell of a good ride.
After voting Emilokan? No joy anywhere. But I really wanted the players to win for themselves but for this hardship in Nigeria nah. They're not the cause.
