There is a fundamental law of life that everyone with some measure of intellect eventually learns….I cannot care more about you that you do about yourself.

This is the reason we get the kind of leadership we get and why good people do not venture into government. That’s why when you see someone in government or politics in Nigeria, there are usually crooks or end up as crooks. Good people are not going to stress themselves to fight the old establishment and at the same time battle the same people they are trying to uplift.

Good People eventually realize that in Nigeria, the people you are fighting for are the ones fighting you so you either stay away from public service or you go there to steal.

If you have any brains you will ponder on what I just wrote.

Example: good education is not cheap, we say we need to increase fees to deliver education that can deliver good jobs for the masses, you protest. Eventually I say ok no problem if that is what you want, I send my own children to good schools abroad and you graduate with worthless degrees and end up an Uber driver if you are lucky. Eventually you complain that it is the children of the elite that get the best jobs. When we told you this is the plan to enable the child of the masses to get good education, you protested because it required some sacrifice and discomfort on your part. The Nigerian story is littered with such examples.


I can try to educate and enlighten you but if you do not care about yourself then it’s not my business to care about you. This is what we witness everyday in all aspects of public life. The people don’t care about themselves so why should leaders care about you, why provide jobs, good roads and good schools when it is clear you don’t care about yourselves?

This is in a perverse way one reason Buhari created the mess he created. If he did the right things, you are the same people that will protest, Jonathan tried to remove subsidy we protested. No matter the leader, no matter how well intentioned, they all get to power and realize the people they are fighting for are the ones fighting them and eventually they fall into “this life I can’t kill myself mode” and Nigerians are not worth the stress. The day you wake up and make it known by your thoughts and actions, by what you tolerate and what you won’t tolerate, that you value yourselves more than you value big men, big men and our leaders will start to take you seriously.

If you are worshiping and celebrating the man who killed many manufacturers and killed many jobs instead of stoning him, why should I as a governor or president waste my energies trying to create jobs for you? Why should I care about your jobs more than you?


Subsidy thieves, government looters, job destroyers, forex round trippers, across party tribal and religious lines you will celebrate and defend them with all you have and you expect people who have good intentions to enter government and work for your benefit? Who does that? This is why we have the kind of leaders we have, the saying is a country gets the kind of leadership it deserves!, You show why Nigeria is Nigeria.

Neither Atiku or Tinubu or Obi are going to kill themselves for you. The most they can do is offer a plan and a way forward. They will work only to the extent you as citizens show genuine care for yourselves. At this stage everybody has to sacrifice, you have to sacrifice more because you have more to lose and more to gain but if you feel you cannot sacrifice it is ok. The only difference is they have options you don’t! Don’t be so daft. I am in Nigeria because I grew up in Nigeria and this is home to me. I am in Nigeria because I want to be and negotiated to be. Officially I am based in Ghana because that is where technically my office is.

The reason why I talk, post and try to educate people is because if Nigeria goes down, it affects me also, I stated that already in my post. I am simply saying that personally from a strictly financial point of view I am not affected. No matter how financially secure I or anyone is, if the rest of society are not it affects us..it is basic enlightened self interest. If the roads are unsafe it affects me, if my driver can’t feed his children it affects me, if my driver cannot afford soap and stinks up the car with body odor it affects me, if my driver is sick and cannot take care of himself, we share the same small airconditioned space, he can pass his disease to me. However I cannot cry more than the bereaved. If you are suffering and you still insist on defending your oppressors, that’s your problem not mine.
