Petroleum Commission To Relocate Key Departments To Lagos by Gistsnaijamedia: 1:45pm On Feb 15
The Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC) is set to relocate some of its units to Lagos.

This is contained in a memo signed by Dr Kelechi Ofoegbu on behalf of the commission and dated Wednesday, Feb. 14.

The commission said the decision was to enhance its service delivery, reduce operational costs, and make adequate use of its assets in Lagos.

“In line with our objectives of improving organisational efficiency, driving industry growth, and managing office accommodation in Abuja, we are exploring the possibility of relocating certain units to Lagos.

“This initiative is driven by the need to enhance our service delivery, reduce operational costs, and make adequate utilisation of our assets in Lagos.

“Consequently, we are requesting that each department identify and provide a list of units that can operate independently with minimal supervision.

Submissions on the above are expected on or before the close of business on Friday, February 23, 2024.

“This is submitted for your further, necessary action.”

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the development comes on the heels of the recent relocation of the Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) headquarters to Lagos. (NAN)

That's wrong. If you must move those departments, take them to the ND states.

Instead of making efforts to create opportunities in other states across Nigeria so they can decongest an overpopulated Lagos, these greedy Lagos politicians want to grab everything.

That's why Buhari and Tinubu can never be the man that Jonathan and Obasanjo were. While the former were regional champions foisted on the country, the latter were detribalised presidents.

Just imagine an lgbo man in power doing exactly what Tinubu z doing right now.
Igbos n there properties could av been destroyed all together by other tribes, mainly Yoruba n Fulani.
Sometimes I really thank God for Obi not being declared winner. It's a blessing in disguise to d SE/SS. Even though l know n am sure Obi could av governed differently.

Just imagine hw dey maligned n castigated Jonathan. Tinubu n co sponsored n organized chaotic n violent protest all over the nation. Nw u dare not organise a 'get-together', not to mention a peaceful protest. U will b killed n no one dare ask questions.
All l n my likes can do z to pray n hope one day Nigeria will get it right. I believe in Nigeria n also trust in peaceful dissolution of incompatible MARRIAGES!!!

I like what Tinubu is doing with northerners that think they own Nigeria.

The only problem is that it will not affect the common man and also increase the gridlock already facing in Lagos now as workers will move from Abuja to Lagos and new ones will be employed.
But I like it!

Okay. On top shaky, snatched mandate of corruptly allocated 8m votes (which is still way way less than the roughly 14m+ total votes allocated to his 3 more qualified opponents) this idiot still has the audacity to be Yorubalizing everything and Lagosizing everything.

Ordinarily, one wouldn't have a problem with these national institutions moving to Lagos based on the idea that Lagos is supposed to be somewhat a NO MAN'S LAND, being the capital of Nigeria for so long. But these idiots made it clear that other Nigerians can't vote their preferred candidates in Lagos. Can't safely invest and reside in Lagos. Can't do anything in Lagos without "respecting" their so-called "hosts" (spits). When reminded that Lagos was built with Federal NIGERIA'S money, they claim that their BAT built Lagos with his own money.

Now they have the audacity to move critical federal NIGERIAN institutions with the attendant advantages to their Yoruba Lagos. This is unacceptable. Forget the so-called horrible economic policies that have impoverished Nigerians. If anything has to bring this bastard down by all means and at all cost then it has to be this provocative policy of relocating Federal institutions that belong to our Federal Capital City of Abuja to his ethnocentric Lagos. That can not and will not be accepted. And he will forcefully understand that very soon.

The vast majority of Nigeria's downstream resources are in Lagos, including the mighty Dangote refinery.

A couple of departments directly involved in their regulation can be in Lagos, close to the businesses they're regulating.

The headquarters remain in Abuja.

Perfectly logical.
