I feel say BAT go back am...Sowore's base isn't so different from Peter Obi's with better backing, he just might eat into Peter Obi's votes, especially for those looking to move from PDP/APC. I struggle to see how Atiku would be relevant in 2027, except there's the merger with LP.

Nah, Sowore is not backable, he has no base. And if he did na BAT vote him go eat. You don't back a nigga from your fellow tribe to run against you, that's shooting yourself in the foot. Obidients even hate Sowore based on his opposition to GEJ. Like 80% of Obidients in SS and SE are GEJ backers.

Atiku is best placed to take power and shouldn't give up. The way Sultans and Emirs in the North are making noise now, he can easily woo them

Atiku is the main contender for 2027 and he has a very good chance. BAT will need more help from Obi to take away Southern non APC votes from Atiku

This is Nigeria. We should also punish people who throw Styrofoam packs on the road where they eventually block gutters. Easy in principle impossible to achieve in reality.

Does sachet alcohol contribute to drunk driving and to accidents? What do you recommend then?

Also by the same argument we should allow Bet9ja to run wild since they are 'contributing to the economy'?
Ban Sachete alcohol and drivers will drink from the bottle…. It doesn’t stop anything.
Arrest and charge them for DUI is the solution cos they won’t stop drinking alcohol.

I think the question should be how to curb DUI...drivers were drinking and driving before sachet alcohol became a thing and I think it shouldn't just be targeted at commercial drivers, private car drivers should fall under whatever policy is being initiated. Friday, Saturday and Sunday evenings, there's more than enough private car owners driving under influence...I won't be surprised if there's more accidents from private car owners driving under influence than there are from commercial drivers driving under influence.

You're probably right about that. I remeber calling our company security one Friday when I had a run in with police and their first question was oga have you been drinking? Apparently a lot of guys would get hammered, get in trouble and then call our security guys to engage the police

There is also a lot of drinking on construction site to 'warm body' which is another fking problem safety wise.

There are so many fking issues with driving in naija.

People drive with their babies in the front seat, sometimes in the drivers seat

Festac is full of drinking joints and people will go there, get hammered and enter road.

For whatever reason the road l live along is a preferred location for men to carry their side chicks and gfs and gay lovers to learn to drive. Without any L.

So one evening I was driving home and this guy who was clearly learning to drive was facing me.

I literally stopped my car. The guy still panicked drove forward and hit me. He was with another guy. They both came down. The learner driver was fair, very fair, very feminine in voice and mannerisms. Everything about him shouted gay partner who takes the d.

As an aside at one time I had some neighbors at one time who Def gave off rainbow vibes. The House was full of guys who dressed and acted very peculiar. I think if it was in obodo oyibo of before before they would call them 'roomates'

It is difficult at times cos it takes more than just "common sense" to decipher their opinion.

It is more of an insult than opinion
Reason you should not take their opinion serious, they know too well how useless APC Govt under Buhari and Tinubu is. Just take their comments as catching cruise or just trolling..
Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by Ibime(m): 11:08pm On Feb 15
As concerns our current hardship, Tinubu go inevitably suffer the anger of the people. I'm 100% certain he knew what he was walking into and the sapa that will be unleashed and I believe he is ready to take the flack. I don't share the same anger as people directly impacted by the current inflation, I'm sure I would in their situation. But I think Tinubu and Cardoso are taking steps I would expect, albeit too late for Nigeria and akin to putting a plaster over a gaping wound.

Examples are clearing FX backlog, auditing FX liabilities and rejecting fraudulent submissions, CBN oversight over NNPC remittances, and increasing our bpd production with the return of security contracts to Tompolo. Nigeria has lost 30-40% of it's production in the last decade, and more importantly so, lost a good portion of its onshore production which produces more favourable income sharing than offshore where the oil companies take more % due to the complexity and cost of deep sea drilling. I would also now expect a restructuring of all of Nigerias loans to more favourable long term loans. None of these would balance the Naira sufficiently but at least someone is doing something unlike Buhari and Emefiele who buried their head in the sand and passed the problem on.

I reckon Naira will only achieve long term stability with a return to $60bln to $80bln in FX reserves. This will also require immediate stoppage of all capital projects till we balance our books, retrenchment of some civil servants, as well as a return to excess of 2m bpd production.

I am not surprised or angry because everything we are seeing is as expected after seeing the state our reserves were in. Some things are simply inevitable. The only question is whether the social fabric of Nigeria will survive the coming sapa. Hopefully some of us were able to protect ourselves.

Ibime:

The incoming administration is already dead. All Nigerians should open dollar account with whatever they are not using to protect themselves

Ibime:

I just looked at Nigeria's forex position and official figures says $38bln which is normal range and enough to defend the Naira at the very least from the last week of mayhem. But another unconfirmed report is saying the true picture is only $15bln which may go somewhere to explaining the inaction over the last week of freefall.

This still comes back to Nigeria's inability to prevent oil theft which has seen oil production halve since 2015, reducing our ability to earn forex. If that $15bln forex picture is correct, then this may just be the start of a monumental slide

the talking heads on smooth FM morning drive [chxta and co] have been warning about this inevitability for years - as far back as 2014.
Christians should be able to relate - we are officially in the seven lean years with no savings and no capital investments from the seven years of fat

here we go - batten down the hatch and ask the question is how much worse it will get before it gets better

The word "better" is achievable only with competent and honest politicians/leaders.

In the midst of the mess you believed, they are still sponsoring pilgrimage and dropping billions to form a committee who will look into a minimum wage review of 35k.

No matter how bad things are a large number of Nigerians from all walks of life are unable to engage in sustained belt tightening, it is unfortunately what it is.

I said same thing here few weeks before the election. Igbo's have always voted PDP candidates over their tribes men like Ojukwu, but when they finally decided to vote thier own son, they became tribalist.
I have also adviced people not to take Raumdeuter and Oasisx political views about Nigeria serious, they are far too detached from the realities and have not been involved in Nigeria political process for a long time.
I like Dayo's takes on sports and other topical issues even American politics, but never his views or opinions on Nigeria politics cos i see it as him trolling. Who will continue to support a useless failed APC since 2015, if not to mock his supposed frenemies/rivals here?
Dayo is the only honest APC fanboy in this forum. Man already said he is Pan-yoruba, and as long as Yoruba brother is on the throne, he is okay..he doesn't really care about anything happening in Nigeria after all he is far way in UK or USA enjoying life and better country. Anytime he reads any bad news happening in Nigeria and sees tinubu's picture or videos as Presido, man is okay.

Belt tightening response is actually faulty to some extent if we cannot voice out or rather defend the visible.

It is pathetic to believe the phrase "get beter" when in reality there is no visible measures put in place to hold tenaciously unto.....

We are just sliding endlessly to a bottomless hole ...

Yes, he supported buhari because of tinubu. Try and follow his posts and you will see he has never hid it.

When tinubu won, they all went on length ranting spree on how Tinubu is the master strategist and has been planning for 2023 since 2015. There was a reason tinubu insisted it was his turn.. of course he had agreement with buhari.

Nigerians love quoting Bible which is why I referred to Joseph and 7 years of bounty followed by seven years of famine

It occurs in business and in life. Boom and bust cycles.

If you are wise during your boom cycle you will survive during your bust cycle

We were not wise and so here we are

There is nothing happening that I have not read people predicting for years. Unsustainable subsidies. Unsustainable defending of the naira. Over reliance on oil. A failure to grow and develope other industries a failure go invest in infrastructure.

The day has come. Delayed - but it Is here.

I would prefer for our leaders across all arms of govt to engage in visible belt tightening, but they are Nigerians. Ibime will tell you about how he sees people who ask him for help because they are broke flossing and doing big boy on the gram after receiving assistance . It is what it is.

In essence we would have fared way better had Jonathan continued instead of Buhari... At least he had the smart to allow those better at economic management the reins, had better approach wrt Niger Delta issue & Oil Production.

Whilst Nigeria hasn't been great in a long while the genesis on today's problem started with SNG & Buhari.

Hopefully Tinubu can get our oil production up, that's our only get out of jail card, cutting wasteful spending is not Tinubu's strength especially with an Akpabio as Senate president
