004gist: Apt. It doesn't even make sense but many people not having an understanding of how things work are quick to support the government which is just a very short term benefit. When we all should hold government accountable and make them get to work. |

mrrandomguy: Not even only him, political oppositions are responsible for it. It is a strategy they plan to ride on to power come 2027. But the question is, do these politicians pity the masses that are affected at all. |
Re: Crackdown On "Hoarding" Will Frighten Investors - Peterside by BennyDGreat: 10:05pm On Feb 16 |
Lanre1st: Let me explain something to you: These people with these warehouses have been in business for a long time, doing this storage business. The scarcity of food isn't caused by the warehouses. It's caused by lack of enough farmers on the farm due to insecurity. What you call artificial scarcity is people doing their normal storage business. It's the scarcity of food that's driving the cost upwards not the warehouse owners. That storage business in itself is risky especially when farmers are in full operation. Their stored produce may not yield much profit. |
Re: Crackdown On "Hoarding" Will Frighten Investors - Peterside by Lanre1st(m): 10:17pm On Feb 16 |
BennyDGreat: Ok listen if you want to hear. Storage is for excess of food, not when it's never enough. Since there is shortage of it in the country now, this is the best time for them to sell. Politicians are stupid, hoarding goods to cause problems in the name of storage, the same thing with hoarding of dollars to cause scarcity. 2027 is still far, they should let citizens live 1 Like |

nlfpmod: The government is diverting the attention of the simple.minded to think that anybody other than the government is responsible for the hardship. Economoc Commentors, journalist, and even the very impoverished people crying out loud of hardship. They say the hungry people wailing for food and frusterted about the economy are demarketing the country. They are making victims people whose business is struggling and have become uncertain due to the very policy the govt deployed, It still baffles me how anybody can believe this and fall for it.. What has the govt done to help the people. Can someone tell me?? Anything to ease the suffering of people. Let's focus on the real problem. Who has enough money to buy enough food. By the time they finish selling what they have, what will be left, if current economic hardship persist. Farmer can't go back to farm, and the country is dependent on import and fx is at a runaway rate. Think, how will clamping down on these folks help the situation. Another case of tackling the obvious symptoms and leaving the root cause. |

Something no government has been able to do, all their refineries have ended up with LEAKAGES. The house you are currently typing from I can bet it was built with Dangote cement. Should we mention the food you eat too? Who dey make am? And you somehow think such a man would be subject to policies like a farmer keeping tin tomato in warehouse. Bros don't ask me about any 50% o

What is the meaning of hoarding? If someone buys a warehouse load of food and stores for his own use whenever and however he deems fit, I don't think that's hoarding. But if food stuff meant for public consumption is hidden and stored for a few peoples selfish interest then that should be purnished. 1 Like |

Uyi168: That is what is still missing in Tinubu's govt As long as politicians and the governors' Monthly allocation has crossed Trillion naira, the naira cannot be stable, these people are the major buyers of forex, how many businesses can survive importing raw materials at N1537 to a dollar, sell in naira and make profit? Tackling insecurity and the implementation of massive mechanise Agriculture are the two surest ways to get Nigeria out of the woods. Dollar may reach N2000 before easter if care is not taken, the neighbouring countries are no longer interested in farming because the food is ridicoulusly cheap in Nigeria now at N2,500 to 1000cfa! 1 Like |

PHIPEX:My friend, Rapid devaluation of naira led to high costs of production, which in turn lead to high prices of goods and services This rapid devaluation also lead to the very high inflation of 30% Kapish? Una dey hear? Do you understand? In some countries in Africa the prices of goods and services has been almost the same ever since 2004 because the value of thier currency have been well maintained in a stable manner by their prudent govt. |

Warehouses are where they should go, not stores. Some people misunderstood the assignment or it's a political hit job. Warehouses should be busted eminent domain style and market value compensation paid to owners. The govts need to put out bounty on information on goods hoarded. And yes the govt can do that if your goods was allowed to clear on time after they got import licenses to bring food to the country for consumers. The same food mafias are responsible for blocking other people from getting the import license and will have their agents pour water on rice and sugar that people who are not in their clique bring to the country. The dollar accounts in banks too should be converted to Naira with immediate effect, we will go back to dollar accounts when the country gets out of the ditch it's in. |

tony0806:Why would you hoard when you can as well sell on the current market price, take your gain and go back for another trip of business. But you will prefer to hoard so as to create artificial scarcity. Are you not greedy so? Are you not wicked? Does wickedness not run in your blood? Please be human for once and stop being demonic. |

ycat:I don't know why all these people in Government don't want to do their work. They are just dragging their feet. It is painful that those elected don't really understand why they are in government. They think they are just there to enrich themselves, fill their pockets with wealth and riches of the nation. |
