This APC government have no sense. You devalue you currency to almost #1770 to a,$ollar They have to increase their prices so as to cover their cost of production. That is common economics. What did u want them to do? to produce and sale at a loss?.

Competition brings down prices only when an economies of scale has been achieved
by some of the established players.

So, new investors will take at least 5 to 10 years to influence the market.

Float the cement industry to allow demand and supply to determine the price.

Naira will never ever go back to not even $1 to 1300 the official bank rate is now 1400somthing, so that means that the government has accepted the national bank rate at 1400something.

Naira will keep falling till we reach the real value of naira which could be any amount it could be even $1= 5000 naira or even 10000, maybe even 20000 to $1 we will find out in the end the real naira value, at this moment nothing can change anything.

The only thing to do to deal with this capitalist is to open border for competition at least for a year or less. You will see how the price crash. This is democracy, the wish of the masses should supersede the wish of greedy few.

I'm thinking Dangote is valuing his product in US dollars .... a relatively stable currency .... and the local price of the product ... cement in this case ... will be the equivalent of the USD price . If he has it that his cement has to be sold at $10 .... then his price remains the same... when the Naira was 800/1 ... we bought cement for N8000/sack . Now the Naira is 1500/1 his price remains at the $10 ... but to get it in Naira ... N15000. Are we expecting him to sell it for N10 000? ... th3n he wouldn't be in business for long.

It would still be expensive because the foreign exchange will still be high, the reason the Naigeerian economy is going bad is because almost everything is imported in Naigeeria, Dangote or Bua cement are produced in Naigeeria and it is expensive imagine how much the foreign cement would cost.

I just suspended my building project when I asked how much the cement I bought last month at 5500per bag has become something else this month.
