The Police have confirmed the arrest of the Labour Party, LP National Chairman, Julius Abure in Benin City, Edo State, South-South Nigeria.

The arrest by Zone 5 operatives of the Nigeria Police Force follows a petition against him over alleged assault, molestation and illegal possession of firearms.

Abure was in Benin City for the Edo State LP Governorship primaries scheduled to hold on Friday February 23 for nomination of party's candidate for the September 21 polls.

Whatever allegations have been levied against him must be thoroughly investigated and if he is guilty,must be made to face the law. I'm for Peter Obi and he believes in law and justice,so everyone connected to him must comport themselves properly.

Assault, molestation and possession of fire arms,these are laughable accusations.Edo state government trying to harass labour party and they have been fighting this man because he is not sabotaging Labour party.They are scared of labour party influence in edo state.

The government is now victimizing Labour Party chairman. Nothing APC wouldn’t do to discredit Labour Party. First, they planted Lamido Apapa to destabilise Labour Party, that didn’t work, then they planted moles accusing Abure of stealing billions (as if Labour Party even have billions), that didn’t work, now they’re physically arresting him over irrelevant allegations.

The man was just there for his pocket and it's bad. When states where running around for their party to win, he was just looking for a way to get his pocket filled with cash from the oppositions. He was taking money and selling his party to other bigger parties during state election. Did that in Bayelsa and other states. They needed to stop him before the Edo next election... Apata and co just want to send him beyond
