PBAT has significantly increased the gap between the rich and the poor.

COMRADES, the article says; unsold goods pile up. This means that we're suffering in the midst of plenty and this implies that we are the cause of our problems
it simply means the goods are there but people don't have the money to buy. That's why the goods are unsold.

Companies maybe forced to close down since they don't have customers to buy the already produced goods.

Let them keep stock piling goods.

They don't want to bring down the price of goods so that people can buy.

Greedy manufacturers
You can’t blame the manufacturers, it’s so expensive to produce in Nigeria due to high cost of energy, electricity and multiple layers of taxation.
I was once into pure water production and I had to close down because of high cost involved and even theft by employees.
The police and agbero harassing/extorting my drivers are another layer of cost. If not for all these issues I mentioned, a bag of pure water shouldn’t cost more than #200.
Many poultry and fish farms are also experiencing high costs of production due to feeds. I hope the govt would look into the issues of energy and electricity plus multiple taxation

Then they should stop inflating the price of their goods or reach out to middlemen and agree on fixing prices in rh goods. The indomie I'm currently having was bought at around 6,500 per carton, now I'm hearing it's over 10k. Once I'm done with that carton, I'm not buying again. The economy is making people cut costs by all means and purchase power has reduced. The greedy distributors and wholesalers should keep increasing prices of items, na them go lose last last.
They are not greedy!
Blame your govt for making thoughtless policies that is ruining the economy. If the indomie manufacturer doesn't increase his price, how do u want him to restock & purchase rice & drugs that is going up? It's a ripple effect thingy. So long some products are being increased, every other will increase. The blames starts from the govt for carelessly removing subsidy & floating d naira without providing an enabling ground to cushion the negative effects, leaving manufacturers at the mercy of increase.

Don't mind them
Subsidy is the only thing an average man enjoy from govt. Without subsidy, politicians will still end up looting the money.
The thing is FG shares the excess saved from subsidy to governors and it ends in their pockets, with nothing to show, why not allow subsidy, so Nigerians buy cheap fuel to mobilize the informal sector, and Nigerians save more, for future investment, when they spend less on necessities...they also have extra to demand other goods and services, this stimulates economy.

Exactly!
There is no factory that can produce at the current cost of production. No business can run! Aside import of raw material cost. The major cost is power generation. How can diesel be 1600, ₦1800 per liter for God's sake? Is is that these people in government do not realize generators, trucking uses diesel? If small scale businesses eg hotels, factories, schools are spending 300-400k on diesel daily, how much is there revenue, not to talk of profit?
Let me put in on context, those small 30liters keg of diesel cost ₦48,000!
If a large hotel or factory runs just 1 unit of 1000kva generator, it cost ₦266,000 to run that generator for just 1hr. If it runs for 20hrs in a day ie ₦5,760,000 daily! What will they produce that anyone can buy for goodness sake?
Anyway, Emilokan and his cohorts have never ran any know business before, all they did was tax in Lagos and got wealthy, hence the saying wealth without enterprise.

How can a company sell below production costs and run at loss? Will you do it?

Put into consideration that naira has lost more than 70% of it's value so they might not have saved anything in the first place, forget grammar!! Why float the naira at this point?

The inflation is no longer at par with the exchange rate. Prices of goods should no longer be increasing geometrically the way it is right now. Naira is starting to hold it's own against the dollar, suddenly a carton of indomie spiked from 8,500 to 10k, bag of rice went from 70k to 85k within the space of a couple of days. Exchange rate, subsidy removal or floating of the naira has nothing to do with this. The manufacturers and middlemen must be called to order

Subsidy removal has a lot to do with it.
It has already altered the market & will take some time for things to settle. Truth is, then most retailers were selling old stock at a slightly adjusted price to enable them restock due to price increase, now they are getting new stock and selling at the increased rate, reason for the new price increase. The price u bought before was old stock which they increased slightly to enable them restock. The naira is still fluctuating, let's wait for it to maintain a consistent price for at least one to two months. You need to put yourself in their shoes to understand.

God bless u!
This is what most people don't understand.
They don't know these companies have running expenses. Before the removal of subsidy & floating naira, was anyone increasing price of goods?

Tinubu 's government is that scourge that Nigerians were thoroughly warned to be careful of, but rather than listen to smart people like us, they went tribal and religious, threatening to teach us lesson in political, as if politics is more important gover. After the politics of 2023 election, Tinubu is unable to govern effectively. Today, those that warned are enjoying themselves while those they warned crying all over the whole place. I made the mistake voting Buhari's government but learnt my lesson and retracted my steps, i am better for it . Next time listen to wise people and forget about the politics of identity.

“The development is as a result of the devastating effects of the exchange rate crisis, inflation, fake and sub-standard goods, smuggling and other macro-economics challenges.

“These had put many manufacturers in a great dilemma in the current year as they are applying brakes on production by watching keenly events in the country to know if there would be improvement in sales in order to create space for fresh production for the year.”

Nigerians and lamentations.
House rent on a street without good access road goes for #350,000. Government comes to their aid and fix the road, the next year, rent jumps to #800,000. Same people turns back to blame Government for soaring cost of living.

I hope Bulabaa will also help.them produce more after forcing them to sell off their stock?

If you ask me, he should have thought about STIMULUS packages (e.g. long-term, low interest rate loans) for viable players in the production sector, driving prices down.

He could also do same for the agricultural sector. This will make sure we have food in the short term, while preparing for long-term food production ventures that will utilize irrigation to produce food all year round.
