He said that the State Government had received a lot of commendation from people for its support towards the inauguration of the Geometric Power Project.

However, Abia Commissioner for Information and Culture, Mr Okey Kanu and Special Adviser to the incumbent Governor Alex Otti on Media and Publicity, Mr Ferdinand Ekeoma disputed the claim.

Kanu told journalists that there is no existing financial commitment by the previous administration to the Geometric Power Project.

He spoke on Tuesday during a press briefing on the outcome of the State Executive Council at the Government House, Umuahia”

I understand the need to come out and clarify this. However, it does not invalidate the fact that Alex Otti as a person was very immense in making this project come on stream.

I am particularly ashamed of my state governor for lacking the foresight to generate even 20mw so that my local government can enjoy steady power. I'm happy for the people of Abia and I hope this project will give birth to more of such across the 36 states.

Is the whole Nigeria jubilating?

Aba currently gets meagre 25mw from transmission company of Nigeria.

188MW when fully operational will solve the electricity problems of Aba.

My own be say, let those beer parlour illiterates who always claim every cost of projects by government is to enable embezzlement, come now and clarify why $800m is spent to build capacity to generate and transmit only 181MW of electric power to just 9 local governments in a state with 17 local governments, and a country of 774 local governments.

Also, the initial project cost of $250m was adjusted over the 16years to cost $800m

Nothing like Naira inflation as the initial and final cost remain in dollars, yet went from $250m to $800m.

Or can a private company embezzle its own funds having taken loans to fund the project and must pay back to the financier?

So let the illiterates be calming down when it comes to government infrastructure projects and stop forming experts over project costing that they know nothing about
