The senate has approved a request by President Bola Tinubu to sack Babatunde Irukera as the vice-chairman and chief executive officer (CEO) of the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC).

The president had asked the upper legislative chamber in a letter to sack Irukera because he is not “efficient”.

The president needs the approval of the upper legislative chamber to have a substantive replacement for Irukera at the commission.

“In accordance with the provisions of Section 8(2) of the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC), Act 2018,” the letter reads.
“I hereby seek the kind confirmation of the Senate in respect of the disengagement from office of Babatunde Irukera as Executive Vice Chairman, Chief Executive Officer of the FCCPC with effect from January 8.”

The development came weeks after the president appointed Adamu Abdullahi as acting chairman of the commission.

At the time, the president also sacked Alexander Okoh, director-general (DG) of the Bureau of Public Enterprises (BPE).

Memborough:

So approval is all it takes to sack an inefficient person?
What about Myele Kyari of NNPC with gross inefficiency?
So why didn't they get approval to sack the incompetent and clueless goro chewing Fulani man called Buhari?
National Assembly members themselves are inefficient if they can't determine inefficient president to sack.

Irukera is not inefficient.
He is.
He has been losing the fight on loan apps for years and they’re still ruining the lives of many Nigerians.

If you understand what being inefficient is, you won't use that to describe Irukera.
He was sacked because he's the just prominent appointee of Osinbajo and he refused to do bambiala to Tinubu.

They just looked for an excuse to axe him and unfortunately for them, they look so stupid doing it.

Still trying to wrap my head around Irukera being tagged as "inefficient".

I guess it's better the Government comes out clean on his misdemeanor or offence.

The former FCCPCC boss seems to cut as a thorough bred public servant.

Please what is his offence ? At least we are aware he made money for the FG to the tune of N120B through fines on BAT alone.

Upon reviewing his credentials he seem to have worked with former VP Yemi Osinbajo as partner at Simmons Copper.

The newly appointed acting FCCPC boss just seems to be playing to the gallery.

So, you don't even know the difference between being inefficient and being ineffective.
I honestly shouldn't be having this conversation with you.
