Senators have rejected the request by President Bola Tinubu for permission to deploy Nigerian troops to Niger Republic as part of an ECOWAS force to reinstate the democratically elected president of the country,

President Mohamed Bazoum was deposed on 26 July in a coup led by his presidential guards.

ECOWAS leaders at a meeting in Abuja four days later gave the coup leaders a seven-day ultimatum to restore constitutional order or face the possible use of force. The regional body imposed sanctions on the coup leaders with Nigeria also cutting electricity supplies and closing its borders with the poor West African nation.

Following the refusal of the coup leaders to backtrack, West African defence chiefs said they had drawn a plan for military action as part of which President Tinubu wrote the Senate for permission to involve Nigerian troops in the action.

However, at an executive session on Saturday, the senators rejected the request by the president.

According to a senator who attended the meeting, senators agreed to pass a resolution condemning the coup and to commend ECOWAS leaders on their efforts to restore constitutional order in Niger, but they ruled out military options.

“Almost all the senators spoke and totally ruled out the military options because of many factors and also because of the harmonious relationship that Nigeria and Niger have always enjoyed.

“Senators instead urged President Tinubu to intensify negotiation with the coup leaders by again sending a high-powered delegation to Niamey. Someone suggested that elderstatemen like Obasanjo, Gen Ali Gusau and Abdulsalam Abubakar should be sent as special envoys to dialogue and seek a diplomatic solution.

“Senators opposed to military action pointed out that our military is highly ill-equipped and not prepared to fight any war. They said that we have fragile peace in Nigeria and that Niger is the highest arms market in Africa.

“Senators believe that the Federal Government should focus on solving the Boko Haram, banditry and ESN/IPOB menaces ravaging the country instead of contemplating going to war in a foreign country. ”

Over 90 per cent of Senators who spoke are vehement against sending troops/military action,”
PREMIUM TIMES gathered.

The Senator said Senate President Goodswill Akpabio appealed to the lawmakers to endorse the steps President Tinubu had taken so far, but they vehemently rejected the appeal.

Senators were saying that they will pass a resolution condemning the coup, but on the issue of going to war with Niger, it is a no go area.”

The Senate has now returned to plenary where they are expected to pass a resolution on the issue.

Lol!

I told Ebola boys that Tinubu’s request for Military Action in Niger would be thrashed like a used sanitary pad by Senate but they were busy foaming from their mouth rather than listening to my logical analysis.

For anything to get approved at the senate, you 2/3 of the senators to support it. Numerically that’s 73.

Now, APC are just 59 senators.

Opposition senators are 50. All of them would be against the request by default.

Amongst the 59 senators of APC, majority of them are northerners and their stakeholders have told them not to support any military action in Niger because na north go suffer am pass. This made them issue a statement to that effect last night.

So, add 50 opposition senators to about 20 APC senators from the north and you have about 70 senators against the request which would kill the request completely.

But somehow, Ebola boys disagreed with me.

They thought the Nigerian senate is MC Oluomo that the urine dispenser will issue instructions and the illiterate will carry it out with the speed of light without questioning.

The truth is that Tinubu should have just concentrated on wanking Remi’s wrinkled kitten than insulting himself this way all in the name of answering president.

Master strategist is turning out olodo strategist.

Nigerians 1 v 0 Ebola and his herd of tribalists.

That is the right thing to do.
You can't have a dirty house and be running out to tell people how to clean their house.

When we clean up, we will not need to talk too much. They will follow.

A new Nigeria is Possible.

Fair enough.

We cannot afford that now considering our current situation and the fact that Tinubu government is just starting.

God bless the Senate

A man that was democratically rigged into power want to go oust military coupists. Pot calling kettle black. You better siddon for one place and dont use your own the spoil the diplomatic chances of the innocent citizens of this nation.

How does it make sense that Nigeria wants to lead an effort to spill the blood of people of a sovereign country who are seeking self emancipation?

Good.
Put your house in order first. A fight against Niger is a fight against the North. Ask Buhari.
We all know his request will not see the light of day

KUDOS

Na strategy bro cool

Does Tinubu look like someone who is truly interested in confronting Niger militarily?

He is the ECOWAS leader. The letter to the senate is just for him to make ECOWAS member states, Buhari, France and UK see that he made attempts.

Now, no super power will blame Nigeria or him for not protecting their interests.

Even a new born baby knows the senate will reject the prayer 7 of his request.

Underate Tinubu's Political sagacity at your own peril. Nigga is the real Maradona which is the reason why many never wanted him in Aso-Rock. You can't set a trap for him.

Even the great PO knows him in and out. This is why he purposely left out election result in his suits and seeking outright cancellation of his candidacy.

That's good, we have numerous problems in our country begging for solutions that the president has not shown serious commitment in solving them, what he is concerned is interfering with what is happening in other independent countries that may trigger war.
We have worst problems in our country: poverty, hunger, general insecurity, Boko Haram, hardship introduced by his subsidy removal policy, etc.

Mr President, solve all the problems in Nigeria and leave Niger Republic alone.

Thank you Distinguished Senators for rejecting this Yoruba president from plunging the peaceful Niger into a civil war with their best neighbor.

This Yoruba agenda will never work. Only few months in office the whole country is in disarray. The northerners are wise.

God bless Nigeria

If you think these people will want to lose their sleep because of the president, then you're mistaken. Believe this or not, all those around him don't care about him, his government, ambition, decision, move or anything about him right now. He's currently all alone in the darkness of his government without anyone to give him light.

It's a time I told you all why President Tinubu is hell-bent in Niger.

He knows that if such continue, such might happen here in Nigeria, knowing very well that the people are tired of notorious administration and the diabolism that associates Nigeria electoral process.
