I don't think you can cancel. I had the same issue a while back and when I called to try and reschedule or cancel, I was told I can't. They said what I can do is wait for the appointment date, do not show up and once the appointment has elapsed, you should be able to reschedule immediately after (from the next day). I believe the option for rescheduling will come up on your profile.

But you should call and confirm this information again. Things could have changed.

Anyone know how I can cancel my IW appointment for my mum? I don't see the option when log.

Unfortunately something came up and she has to be in UK in July so got to cancel for another time.

Thanks I will call. But did you do this, were you able to reschedule after the day?
Re: USA Visit Visa Part 4 by nuttycaptain: 4:09pm On Mar 02
I didn't need to. I had resigned myself to my fate and was going to wait and go for the appointment ( I was trying to reschedule to an earlier date). Fortunately for me, the embassy was randomly rescheduling peoples' appointments and mine was rescheduled to an earlier date. An email was sent to that effect. I remember several people commented on here about the same being done to their appointments.

One of you should travel before it expires.

Bare in mind that visas are now 5yrs so if you travel on this one and renew then the next visa would be valid for 5yrs

Unused visas should not significantly impact your outcome, as they can be explained during the renewal process. Drawing from personal experience, when I renewed my visa in 2021 after holding an unused one from 2019-2021, both the consular officer and the U.S. border officer asked about it and I told them it was due to COVID-related reasons. They were understanding, and it wasn't a hindrance. In my opinion, an unused U.S. visa does imply an intent to not relocate. You can confidently proceed with renewing your visa via dropbox without fearing any negative consequences.

In this couple though...this is 2 unused visas one that had Covid as an excuse the other.

Tickets will go up that's not gonna change much. Hopefully their income will.

I'm having the same issue, but I received mail that my appointment has been shifted to a day before the former date but none was written on my MRV payment, does that mean my payment has expired? I picked a date after 2 months of paying
Thytechguy:
Good morning House, I currently have an issue which I want to be sure of. I bought non-immigrant (B1/B2) visa US visa fees and booked the appointment for 2024 around May 2022, I saw an email recently that reminded of my interview in 2 months time but an information popped up at their website saying any visa fees paid before October 1 2022 is not valid anymore. I am quite confused and want to be sure if the money paid then is not valid for the appointment again. The image attached shows the information of the message on their website (usatraveldocs). Kindly suggest what to do.

Hello wonderful house. I'm new here and I'd be glad if I can get some assistance. I have an appointment scheduled soon. I'm a mum of 3, married. Although I have a good job, my husband has a better job and will be sponsoring my trip. I have an invitation letter from a relative.
How do I explain to the VO I want a few days of vacation without my kids? And not sound like I don't like my kids. We usually go on vacations today and it's truly never a vacation for me as I'm always worried about them having a blast than I am about myself. This is my only opportunity to enjoy a stressfree holiday.

And because we both can't leave the home front at the same time, my husband will be with the kids.

Or should I not mention that I want a vacation without them? Kindly advise

Hey 🤠

Login to your CGI profile and glance through very well, you will find your MRV payment confirmation number , OR look towards the end of your appointment confirmation slip .

1. Write out your MRV payment confirmation number and go to the branch of the GTB the payment was made . Even if you paid online , still do the same thing and walk into any GTB branch , they should be able to print or copy you payment acknowledgment which will serve the same purpose . You may have to pay little charges again .

Best Wishes 🙏

I paid for my mom visa application sometime in 2022 and I can't find the receipt confirmation anymore. Is it compulsory to bring it along for visa interview?

Hi guys. Please advice.

I am currently filling my application form but I am in a bit of a pickle with the area that asks for occupation. I work as a support worker in the UK and about a year ago I started my recruitment company. The company is not yielding much as I barely made any profit nor did I break even. To make up for it, I work a few shifts in a week.

What do I put as my present employer? My business name or the organization I work for? Please bear in mind that I need this to prove a strong home tie.

Thank you
Re: USA Visit Visa Part 4 by nuttycaptain: 8:38am On Mar 03
I don't think this is much of an issue. If you received a mail from them stating that your appointment has been rescheduled, just show up for the appointment on the new date with the original MRV payment receipt. You can try calling the customer care office to confirm your new appointment date

Hey 🤠

1. Your appointment confirmation page (printout) shows your MRV payment number . Call the CGI if it's compulsory for you to attend your interview with the MRV receipt .

2. If yes , walk into any GTBanK (preferably the payment branch and tender the payment reference number which the bank can use to regenerate another payment receipt . It's very likely you will pay a token for them to do that .

Hey 🤠

1. Proving home-ties is not just writing out your employer's name or families or property listings . Proving home ties must follow the rigid (unshaking) policy .

2. I can deduced that you 're presently in the UK and to secure United States visa from the UK (as a Nigerian) you must proof a tie WHICH TIE (bind) YOU AND UK TOGETHER .

3. If you are a UK citizen then your family (especially husband , wife and kids ) and job (solid long time job) are sufficient to proof tie.

4. If you are a permanent resident, your family in the UK, Solid job, and properties or ongoing education (ie PhD /MSc in view) will make up for your tie .

5. You just have to proof WHAT MUST take you back to the UK ... NOT WHAT MUST TAKE YOU BACK TO NIGERIA and the United States embassy consulars knows those things naturally . ****.

6. If you are trying to proof Nigeria ties in the UK they won't grant you the visa . You will come to Nigeria and proof those ties to Abuja or Lagos consulars.

Best Wishes 🙏

If you are for Dropbox and you don’t reside in Lagos, then consider using Abuja cos it’s faster. Here’s my timeline:

submitted ds-160 29/01/24
Request to schedule interview waiver approved in hours.
Scheduled IW on 30/01/24 for 06/02/24
Dropped off passport in DHL 06/02/24
Application received on CEAC status 07/02/24
Updated on 12/02/24 to Refused
Date to schedule 221g was already loaded on portal but I waited to get passport first
Passport picked from DHL outside Abuja 15/02/24
Scheduled 221g on 15/02/24 for 23/02/24 (because they take 221g’s only on Friday) so picked the next friday
221g interview on 23/02/24 (Approved)
Passport back in my town 28/02/24.

1. I answered in a layman's understanding of tie proving . I knew a Briton or British won't ask such a question. But with ESTA you can't even stay more than 90 days. Thank you anyways .

1) Refusal under section 221g in a nutshell means the information they have in the application is not enough to grant you the visa and additional information is required. You could be required to forward some documents through DHL or come in for fingerprinting (if your fingerprint is more than 10yrs in their system) or come for a physical interview like my case.

2) There can be a lot of reasons for that Refusal
- Not traveling within the period you stated you would when you got the visa
- Not using the visa at all
- Staying long periods in the US
