Godfatherism In Lagos: Who Will Succeed Tinubu? Seyi Or Fashola? by Melagros(m): 4:16pm On Mar 06 |
COMRADES, Lagos State is the economic hub of Nigeria for that reason it has become the centre of excellent! The locals are jovial, welcoming and hospitable! That's why almost all the multinational corporations including the FOREMOST blog in Africa NAIRALAND have their headquarters in Lagos. It's obvious that, without Lagos Nigeria may suffer economic consequences! However, some analysts have negative opinions about Lagos; according to them, Lagos is over rated, Lagos is not over rated. The over rated city in Nigeria is PORT HARCOURT the capital of Rivers State. That's why one of my AKWA IBOM friends always say; 'na only for Lagos when you fvck toto, toto dey sweet well well!' Well, I leave that to scientists to prove his claim COMRADES, back to the topic, godfatherism used to have its sacred place in Nigeria's politics, politicians like Obasanjo, Saraki, the late Oyo mafia, the current president of Nigeria, tinubu etc benefitted in that regard, whether we like it or not tinubu, despite being the president of Nigeria still controls who governs Lagos WHO ARE THE FUTURE GODFATHERS? SEYI, Seyi Tinubu is the son of the president Tinubu, and we could see the role he had played during the 2023 genenral elections, his name was mentioned for many reasons both for good and bad. Some analysts believe that tinubu won the election because of the influence of Seyi on the youths, if the son can successfully install his father as a president? Would it be difficult for him to determine who rules Lagos State? To my amazement! Some sources at Lagos State government confided in me that even the current governor of Lagos State Sanwo Olu calls Seyi 'Sir' or 'baba méé' if Tinubu exits today, can his son take over the mantle of godfatherism? Only time can tell FASHOLA, Babatunde Raji Fashola is the two-term governor of Lagos State, and he is also the immediate past two-term minister of power and housing, Fashola was the only governor who during his time as the governor of Lagos State tinubu did not dare him in any way. Is it because he is the bona-fide son of the soil/Lagos? I could remember, during his ministerial screening at the senate, Tinubu, through his proxies at the senate brought up so many allegations on Fashola which one of the allegations is; Fashola during his time as a governor he spent a whopping 35million on a borehole, Fashola gave Tinubu an upper cut in that regard and he successfully became a minister. Will he now be the next godfatherism of politics in Lagos State in the event of absenteeism of Bola Ahmed Tinubu? Only time can tell COMRADES, for the aforementioned names to be successful as godfathers of Lagos politics the following domineering influence are needed: GBAJABIAMILA, Femi Gbajabiamila is the current Chief of Staff to the president, of his boss is not longer there, definitely, he'll like to take over OBA OF LAGOS, traditional rulers are supposed to be the keeper of our cultural heritage, but unfortunately almost all of them are into politics which Oba of Lagos is one of them, when Ambode was filled as the governorship candidate of Lagos, and in order to win the endorsement of the monarch, he picked the son of the monarch to be his ADC IGBO COMMUNITY, so many reliable sources proved that Lagos State is home to 23million inhabitants, and various verified sources also agreed that the population of the igbos living and doing business in Lagos is 10million. If the igbos during any election that is free and fair in the state can give a certain candidate a blocked vote, such a candidate emerges victorious Distinguished COMRADES, whatever is your opinion, the bottom line is; who will become the next godfather of the political arena of Lagos State? Would the state be free from the shackles of godfatherism and be politically free for all? Thank you very much |

Saying Seyi Tinubu helped his dad to win the election is total nonsense. What is even the influence of Seyi in the grand scheming of things and how exactly did he even influence the Nigerian youths? Your whole write up shows you know nothing about politics, talk less of lagos politics. 4 Likes |

Radical arm of Yoruba leaders will take over Tinubu structure in Lagos after he is gone. They don't just elect Godfathers, you become a godfather by building vast network of loyal men who by themselves are strong and beleive in you. That is why most governors failed at being godfathers, they just think acquiring power automatically makes you a godfather. It will take Seyi another 60years to even become anything close to a godfather. Probably when he is 99 years. 14 Likes 1 Share |

The next governor of Lagos is the next godfather of Lagos politics. Just watch it. The next governor will be appointed by Tinubu, and with money in his hands at a time Tinubu will be weak, he (next governor) will automatically become the next godfather, but it will just be until his own tenure ends because nobody can be like the god of Politics Emilokan Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu Jagaban Omo Alhaja Abibatu Mogaji Buje-Budanu |

naija4life247: Yes, but we are yet to have both father and son as President like the United States. The Bush Family. If Seyi becomes Governor of Lagos, we are coming close. Anyway, families such as the Clinton, Kennedy families for example have run the government in the U.S. That is my point. |
