The only aspect I want you to remove is about the wife at home, that side requires you to privately advise him against the wrong he is doing and that doesn't requires public announcement because non of us can help him. Then on his professional conduct, it can be discussed here and I think the company who asked him to go as an undercover, already know what could possibly happened. She could be more suicidal if the person sent to do the undercover dating take the woman half way and dropped her at the point where she thought she has found true love.

My own is that he should never invite his wife to Canada o.It will be the beginning of his downfall.

The most fascinating thing about them is that they NEVER judge themselves as harshly as they judge others.

I believe this is one of those interesting things that never happened. Canada is over-regulated to a point that is almost sickening. No organization would send a man to date thier client to get more information. It's a criminal act even if it's intended to help her. No type of personal relationship whatsoever is allowed between a shrink and his patient. Besides, you can't practice with an 8 months course. Such a program may give you some advantage when looking for a job as a care giver or a social worker, but no organization would send you into the field as a psychologist after an 8 month course.

First of all, there is no such thing as a six months psychology program that qualifies anyone to be psychologist, talkless of being allowed access to vulnerable people. That's absolute fiction.
Secondly, no psychologist or social worker or counselor would commit the unethical and illegal act of engaging with a client on a personal level, no matter the circumstances.

Again, I wonder how this silly story makes any sense and how it got to the front page.

My little comment must have touched a guilty nerve, because this type of guilty reaction was unexpected.

The OP clearly established that a sexual relationship existed between the psychologist and his suicidal female patient. The only logical conclusion would be to let the necessary disciplinary action be set in motion.

I love doing that "thing" as much as any other man, but that doesn't stop me from seeing that there are important boundaries which need to be respected.

Very difficult to believe this story because:
1. A 6 months program in Canada can't make you a licensed Clinical Psychologist.
2. The company will be breaching protocols and ethics by asking you to be an "undercover" date with a vulnerable client.
3. Due to power imbalance between the client and "psychologist", it would be considered non-consentual sex.
4. Unprofessional and in many licensed profession in Canada unethical to have an affair with a client, especially the one still being treated or managed by you.
