Movies I watched last week -
Damsel - 2/10 - Another boring cash grab for Netflix, they know people would watch!
The Man from U.N.C.L.E - 8/10 - "this movie is the perfect blend of espionage and entertainment. It's so good, it should come with a license to thrill!"
Sicario - 9/10 - 'You're asking me how a watch works. For now, just keep an eye on the time.'
Oppenheimer - 12/10 - "Now I am become Death, the Destroyer of Worlds."
Past Lives - 9/10 - "What if this is a past life as well, and we are already something else to each other in our next life?"
True Lies - 7/10 - this movie is nostalgia bait but watching it now, it just seems bland but still funny "You're fired!"
The Age of Adaline - 8/10 - "The only constant is change, but for me, it's the one thing I can't embrace."
The Favourite - 9/10 - this movie is a better movie than Poor THings in Yorgos Lanthimos filmography - "Sometimes to lose balance is to find peace."

Past Lives is so simple and relatable because it imitates life. Majority of us live very simple, mundane lives as portrayed in the movie

raid 1 and the raid 2 still my fav action movies.. d scene re too real
The Raid 2 especially. That kitchen fight scene between Iko Uwais and Yahya Ruhian is the most grueling and epic fight scene I have ever watched in my entire cinematic experience, and I do not say this lightly. Gosh, it was HARD to watch, but very thrilling and INTENSE.

Weren't you the one complaining of people posting series in the movie thread and vice versa? 🌚

Lol, I remember how people Wan chop my head after I gave "Gladiator" a 7.5 rating or so. grin grin

Or rating the Coen Brothers Oscar winning film, "No Country For Old Men" low.

I think you are taking him out of context bro. Did you read the article? He is absolutely right but the headline could have been framed better.

What he was saying is that VOD companies like Netflix are the future of film distribution. A single movie releasing on Netflix on a casual Friday, can be pushed to "20 million people" with just a push of a button, in contrast can "Barbie" or any other Blockbuster guarantee "20 million people/views" on opening day?.

COVID lockdown messed with people's views on Cinema and except you are a true "blockbuster ", that's when you are guaranteed making any money at the Box office. "Babylon" was a very decent movie and it did woefully at the B.O, and it would have been an instant hit, had it been a Netflix or say Apple TV movie, and now Damien Chazelle fears for his career, and he is not sure if any big studio will fund his movies anymore because of the poor returns on "Babylon", i mean this man brought us "Whiplash", "La La Land" and "First Man"!, this same man fears for his career because of one bad day at the cinema.

All the more reasons why indie film makers are more easily eager to sell their films to VOD and guarantee a huge kick back rather than having a cinema run that no one will probably see. Outside of the US and maybe Europe, Indie films playing at Cinemas is not that a big deal.

Forbes just recently released the list of Top earners last year in Hollywood and Adam Sandler of all people sits pretty on that list, and he didn't have a true blockbuster out last year, he just signed a lucrative deal with Netflix, beating the likes of Tom Cruise who is a ardent cinema freak and he had a blockbuster and probably one of the most popular franchises in the history of Hollywood out last year.

Something to think about.

I have very little time to properly counter/dissect these points you've stated. I might come back to it when I've more time.

did you watch the actual video because that's not exactly how he put it, these people are quoting him out of context to bait people like you to keep on justifying your dislike for him

Snyder is known to say so many okoto just for engagements especially in this past few years post his DCEU era.
I won't be surprised one bit if all this is just publicity and stirring up controversy to generate engagement for his upcoming low tier Star Wars clone.

Fans like yourself will keep on defending any shït man puts out. I don't really dislike him as he's a director of a couple of my favourite projects, yet his fandom and his recent weaponizing of such fandom is a huge distaste from me.

$15m Godzilla Minus One taking Oscar's best visual effect makes me wonder what Hollywood use their huge budgets for.

You jumped into conclusions and called the man a dunce for no good reason.

Snyder isn't perfect, no one is, so what makes you think that I would defend everything he puts out, there are a few creative decisions he made in the DCEU that do not sit right with me but that doesn't mean that I don't enjoy his work.

There are bad eggs in every fandom and hasty generalizations like this don't do justice to the peculiar nature of the fandom

I don't see how he weaponizes his fandom as you claim.

well deserved snub. You should watch The Boy and the Heron, you'ld totally understand. The award is for best "animated" film and the award was made for the Boy and the Heron
