Every residential area wants to hurriedly access 24hrs power, If only people know the cost implication of having power supply increase suddenly 5x, they will retink and approach it gradually.

With irregular supply if u are using abiut 6k monthly, it will jump to over 20k suddenly with 247 lights before u know how to adjust. Especially in rural residents with old technology electronics and equipments.

Estimated bill in Umuahia per flat is 14k with irregular light. So paying 20k with regular light is a good deal.

Joker of the week!
You want Ohafia to benefit from the power distribution? What do they have to offer?
Mr Honorable please go and offset the N2Bn outstanding arrears to EEDC ASAP!

The power project is strictly for communities with the capacity to pay. Do you think it would be for free?

EEDC are thieves. How did that community owe you 2billion naira? I'm 100% sure they used estimated billing. Let the community ignore them and lobby to join geometric with prepaid meters.

The bills will have to be offset first (either community pays or GPP buys off).
Then GPP will have to buy existing infrastructure of the EEDC before anything

That's what people don't understand, 247 lights will kill those on estimated billing faster than sniper. Ur neighbourhood transformer will be metered effectively, when the very few with metres are done with in terms of billings, the reminder of the unaccounted consumption (over 70%) will be equally shared to unmetered users, that present estimated 20k u think is high, will jump to over 50k monthly! And like a rat race, u can't apply for a new Meter because that Ur house is already owing over 250k in outstanding bills in most cases.
I live in an area with almost 20hrs steady light, with 90 percent of us metered, and a good percentage of those metered are byepassing the system, leaving those unmetered to make up for the loss. It's hell, wen a 2bedrom flat with anyone barely at home during work hours, getting 35k estimated billing on a monthly bases. Usually it's landlords that will eventually feel the heat when the tenant packs out

exactly, the ohiara community that's owing 2billion naira debt will not be able to afford to pay geometric power limited. the law maker things the power plant was built with air.

Perfectly said
Not only limited to this community, but all over the country. Which investor will hurriedly take meters and transformers to any heavily indebted and entitled community? Who clears the outstanding? It's a rat race. It's deeper than it appears in the news. Even the discos are heavily indebted to the gencos, and the gencos heavily indebted to the gas supplies!
