Wetin concern me and Obi na.

The truth remains that he bought locally assembled cars. Do you know what will happen if a law is passed that all government agencies must use locally assembled cars? Innoson and Nord will increase their production capacity, more jobs will be created, more revenue for the government, less pressure on the naira.

I'm sure even you will take that your proposal to innoson. grin

The main problem with the legislators was not just that they bought those vehicles, it was because they bought foreign used cars when they could have bought Innoson for half the price.

Blame for that is on yardua and gej

Obj forced all of them to buy Peugeot as official cars. First order of business in the new order was to order Toyotas from south Africa.

Ironically while the top brass of military and our senators buy foreign vehicles, the services proper (army police, customs, frsc) are mandated to use made in Nigeria vehicles.

Its simple logic. Do you have any part you have an issue with? I am sure if you think about them you can see the absurdity

e.g knowing peoples ethnic group and occupation by their looks, Names(religious names) and because they spoke a language thats spoken by half of Nigeria
No sir!
I am just always surprised at the way and skills by which you defend anything Tinubu.
Does it mean this man can never be wrong?

Exactly.

Meanwhile, this idea by Cardoso to increase MPR is a masterstroke. For the first time in many months, people are withdrawing money they would have used to buy dollars and investing in Tbills. Some are even converting their dollar holdings to Naira to buy.

The speculative side has been considerably taken out. Unfortunately, they still don't have enough Fx to meet actual demand so the Naira is still expected to slide downwards.

At least, it will be better than what we used to have waking up today at 1500 and tomorrow at 1700.

Yeah. Cardoso has been showing working, that's why I said Wale Edun needs to leave all the too much talkings and show workings. The rate has been stable a bit for a week, its left to be seen how stable it will be.

One thing is certain, monetary policy alone cannot solve our problem, we need the fiscal side to do their own damn work also.

Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by BlueRayDick: 4:59pm On Mar 11

Na so.

Sometimes they even have one court case or the other after people have built up. Imagine building a house only to hear that one court has awarded judgment against the real estate company you bought from.

Such was the case of Magodo estate residents. Lagos state government acquired the land under military rule and Lagos state government sold the lands to different citizens with title documents duly handed over to them.

Some families who claimed to be initial owners of the land took Lagos state to court and won Lagos state government at the supreme court level. Now the occupants are under constant harassment by the family that won the case who have tried to enforce the supreme court ruling giving them powers to take possession of the land.

Nigeria na anyhow country sha.

Be careful when Buying land from omo-onile and not official quarters
How careful can one be when the boundaries of what constituents careful are ever changing? It's very easy to simply say people should be careful when it doesn't it home, I just think Lagos state government should do better in this regard, its become rather common, or maybe it's being over reported, can't say, but it's not a good look.

No wonder. I've always wondered if they buy them out of patriotism

So inspite of the difficult terrain the army use, they are mandated to use Naija cars. Meanwhile, Senators are giving excuses that they buy durable Toyota SUVs due to bad roads in their constituencies

Paranoia is required. Extra level of due diligence. Confirm if the land is involved in any past or present court case. The fact of the matter is the lessors or estate company just want your money.

We had a case where we started upgrade of a site, only to be stopped by the new owners. Somehow everyone but us knew about the court case (what happens when you gut your real estate unit)

And we had paid our lease less than a year ago to the previous owners who were fully aware of the case.

One time we leased a site only to find it was encumbered in a billion naira bank debt and the bank wanted to take over the property.

I actually think buying those low quality vehicles for services guys is better, because the people assigned those vehicles will mishandle and abuse them and destroy them in four years or less, so buying them lower quality vehicles is just cutting your losses.

I work in a company with a legal department and we still got blindsided. When doing any purchase in Nigeria you can never do enough checks

The estate developers selling you the land could be in court and they would not tell you.

I am working with some dudes who are building a new office. They wanted to buy their present office but found issues during investigation.

There are even court cases that will not begin until several years after u must have been occupying the land. U see some of the lands the government acquired under military government and later sold to people; the descendants of the original families that owned the lands can institute action against government & win.

Some of those cases may last as much as 30-40 years till final judgment at Supreme court. There's no how any due diligence can prepare u for such.

If you're still getting blindsided even with an entire legal department involved in the purchase, then that real estate market is just too risky...and probably not worth making any long-term investment in.

Purchasing a valid piece of property shouldn't be this difficult, Lagos state needs to do a better job of regulating the states real estate market.

Prosecutor - Mrs F was killed by Fulani Herdsmen
Judge: How did you know they are Fulani herdsmen

Prosecutor: See their pictures. Are these not Fulani herdsmen?
Judge: from pictures can you determine who are Fulani herdsman is? if I provide you 10 pictures of Nigerians, can you identify the ones who are Fulani herdsmen and those not.

Prosecutor: But their names are Mohammed, Usman, Lawal
Judge: Are these names peculiar to Fulani herdsmen alone? If I provide you with people not Fulani herdsmen with these names?

Prosecutor: The eye witness claimed they were Fulani herdsmen
Judge: And the eyewitness account of identity are dependable how? If I show you 4 people can you as an eyewitness tell their identity?

See how the arguments have been rubbished easily

with my little experience, what I have understood in most land disputes is that it still ends to the winning side of who has the greater power and money πŸ’°.. at least most times..

I've learnt in Nigeria, just keep aside money for cases and troubles, cos one way or the other, they'd definitely find you

Exactly, there's no amount of due diligence you'd do that's sufficient in a system that's designed for chaos.

The same way you can easily turn the amala the other way and argue in favour of the matter. I hail your energy ooo.

But on a serious note, it was obvious baba Tinubu no try for that matter all in a bid not to displease some certain forces then.
But now that baba is fulfilling his dream as the GCFR, much is expected from him. He is not doing well so far.

For the cars still in display at the dealers shop , that's still better ; they can count it as business loss . But for those already purchased by individuals with their hard earned savings nko ?

Imagine say person collect car loan buy Lexus or one correct Highlander toks only to be on the list of 350 vehicles stolen from Canada and shipped down here ? 😩

What I am not now sure of from the juafwment is what will happen to the forfeited cars. Will EFCC sell the cars at Naira equivalent of the vehicles and send proceeds to the Canadian authorities ? Or will they pack all 350 vehicles on a ship and send them back to Canada ?

E be like say these bandits wan go form their own country ni o.

https://www.nairaland.com/8027282/bandits-demand-n40-trillion-150

Bandits who abducted 16 residents of Gonin Gora area of Kaduna metropolis have demanded for a ransom of N40 trillion for their release.

John Yusuf, a community leader of the area, disclosed this in a telephone interview on Monday in Kaduna.

Yusuf said the bandits called and demanded N40 trillion, 11 Hilux vans and 150 brand new motorcycles for the release of the victims.

β€œThe bandits have contacted us. They are demanding for N40 trillion, 11 Hilux vans and 150 motorcycles for the release of 16 people they are holding captive.

β€œWhere are we going to get this kind of money! Even if we sell the entire community, we cannot raise N40 trillion. Even Nigeria as a country has never made a budget of N40 trillion,” Yusuf said
