why not just buy a MIST fan ? At least use am do poor Man's AC

If only the mist fans work bro🤣🤣.
They don't, from reviews that I've heard.

If you know of any that really works, let me know.
Thank you.

I'd just increase the panels.

U sud consider adding to ur panels. That 700w might hardly power ur AC not to talk of charging ur batteries unless u dont need the charging part.

Yeah,na to increase panels.
Thanks

One thing I would say is, they are Fragile, hence quick to go bad BUT in hands of people like me, na those bad Ones me dey find.

if you're in Lagos / ogun state, why not bring it so I deal with it.

I typed 3.5KW because I use one.
not Glorified 5KVA which is 4KW... What's the difference here?
He will be running the AC during the day for only a few hours.
Also, there would be losses due to No load consumption on 5KVA.
I am not doubting you. I just like to ensure my inverter's continuous load isnt more than 30 to 40%. With his load of over 1800watts, thats 50% continuous load not including if any appliance has a surge rating
Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by adibo(m): 2:52pm On Mar 14
Parser:
Yes. From 8 to 6pm but advisable to get at least a small battery backup, say 1kwh.

But you have to over panel it. Cause most of the energy would be coming from the panel. Like if you have a 3.5kwh inverter & Ur load is 1kwh, you could use between a 1.5-2kwh array or more if your budget can allow. Advisable to get the datasheet of the hybrid inverter so you know how you would properly configure it with the solar- taking input voltage and current & power--- series connection.

Second, you put a DC breaker btwn the array and inverter and transient protector between the inverter and NEPA( u know how NEPA light dey fluctuate) or don't even use Nepa at all and earthening of the inverter or a thunder arrestor on the array.

E.g. If inverter can take array of 500V input, current say 80A and you have each of your array can dissipate 42V, 13A. You have a load of 2Kw. You can use a 4 to 6kw array by connecting your array in series to give like 420v at 13A around 5kw in a perfect scenario ignoring loses. And use a DC breaker that can take 500V and the current.

I think we almost have same appliances/mode of their usage.

The 2*550w panels are fine.
Cos I use 2*475w panels.
I also use a 2.5kva inverter (smarten)
And 2*220ah batteries.

Now what I'm not sure is if mercury is a good good brand.

I don't stay home, leave in the morning to return in the evening,so what I do is use a timer socket to put my inverter fridge(<150w) on during peak sunlight and when I'm back I almost have a full battery that would allow me use the fan and a little of TV before sleeping plus 3hrs more for the fridge.

I even iron in the morning, just a shirt anyways and my battery is always not below 23.8v - 24v every morning.

I don't iron everyday o.
I do it mostly on weekends,when there's sunlight ofcourse.🤣

Thanks so much for your response, how has the Smarten inverter been serving you? Is it a good brand? Also, is it hybrid?

You mean that when you get home in the night, you are still able to put on your fridge for 3 hours?

I never knew 2.5kva inverter can take iron, I was advised not to use iron, dats good news for me.

Which brand of battery and solar panel are you using?

Good afternoon house, I have a 24v set up of 2*250ah Luminous tubular batteries, 45A felicity Mppt CC. I have 300w * 6 solar panels (just ordered 2 more panels and will install by weekend) mounted on the roof and at peak period I get like 600w, 25ahms on the Charge Controller. Am I getting the best out of the 6 panels with the reading reported above? if not, what do I need to do to get more from the Panels. Thank you.

N.B

The panel charges my former 200 ahms battery to float everyday with load but it hasn't been able to do same with the new 250ahms battery with the same load as before.

using solar panel of 200w and above on a 12-volts system doesn't really work well. it's OKAY managing it that way if you have plans adding more panels later.

Now that your charge controller na toy abeg. whenever buying a charge controller, e specially if it's PWM, always aim for anywhere 50amps and above.

Most of those PWM charge controllers are overrated, also when the sun comes out well and the solar panel starts generated more output, some would be tripping OFF & ON. You easily could tell that from the Solar Panel indicator on the charge controller.

Let's equally not forget solar panel positioning - we have no idea how and where it was mounted

Bro I'm using 2 310w panel on my 12v and it works well

The solar Panel is hardly the issue. it's the type of charge controller in use. If it's MPPT, you have no issue BUT if it's those overtly cheap PWM charge controllers, oga e go disturb you.

Some go work normal till sun resume full duty, then e go begin misBehave.

Using iron is at users discretion o.
I only use it especially during the weekends when sunlight is up up,the iron is the old Philips and not beyond 900w, still it isn't advisable.

The smarten 2.5kva has been in use for 11months now,no stories and no,it is not a hybrid.
I can't assure you of it's durability since it's just a basic inverter, but so far it has been good.

I use jinko panels from fouani and I get excellent yields from them,I've gotten close to 98% yield.

I use powmr 60A mppt charger.

And yes I use 2hrs on my fridge at night also.
11am - 4pm during the day.
1am - 3am at night with just the standing fan.

The idea behind this is to have atleast 45% of battery at sunrise.

Why not go for a 3.5KW SMS sunmate hybrid inverter. Probably with a 2Kwh battery bank. And and let's say a 1.5KW or 2Kw solar array. Might be best value for money as you can expand.

Other perks: DC breaker, transient protector.

The hybrid inverter comes with it's cc. Cost around 350K.

Like play like play 850 don go, except prolly u go do without battery...just dey flex am for day time. Keep in mind, it is better to do DIY that you can easily expand on without selling parts.

Open to corrections.

All the best.

Thanks for the advice, so any downside using solar without battery?

U need battery connected to it regardless. At least for the sms. Tried it and it kept going off anytime the solar output went low/off

Ur solar harvest looks poor, 600watts from 1800w panels seems low. Instead of adding panels, u sud find the fault first. How were the panels connected? Is it even facing the right direction? Is it exceeding the max pv volt of ur charge controller? U are using bigger batteries now which wud require more charging time, than the previous 200amp battery, depending on ow much u discharge it.

I will be moving to Nigeria for 2 months and working from Nigeria, I would like to get a solar panel setup that would provide at least 12 hours for my laptop, phones and 1 2HP AC.

Thank you.

Not just SMS, any inverter will go off if the load is more than what the panels are producing.

I think its a region or amount of sunshine.
Have similar setup and the max I've gotten this period is 22amps.
Just myv2 cents.

How many volt system? How many watts from ur panel? I have a 24v system with 1200watts of panel connected 2s2p and i get btw 700 and 900 watts using a 60amp mppt.

That's what's causing ur low yield. You are using an Mppt not a pwm so why parallel all? Who did ur installation for u? For the powmr which i think u are using, max mppt voltage for 24v system is 105v so for me using 4 300w panels with pmax of 43v, I did 2 strings of 2 panels in series and then parallel both. U need a higher voltage input to enjoy ur mppt.
