Alleged N3.7trn Budget Padding: ‘Akpabio Will Not Resign’ – Senate Replies PDP by Ofunaofu: 4:39am On Mar 15
The spokesman for the Senate, Senator Yemi Adaramodu, has declared that Senate President Godswill Akpabio will not resign from his position.

Adaramodu was reacting to the demand by the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, that Akpabio should immediately step down following the suspension of Bauchi Central Senator Abdul Ningi.

The Senate had suspended Ningi for three months over his claims of N3.7 trillion in budget padding.

This led to the PDP demanding that Akapbio step down and allow for an immediate investigation into the allegation.

Reacting, Adaramodu, who is the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Media and Public Affairs, told journalists on Thursday: “The PDP has elevated chicanery to statecraft and fatally failed in their sordid attempt to hoodwink the unsuspecting public on the ineffectual but spurious allegations of budget padding.

“The party’s ludicrous call for the resignation of Senator Godswill Akpabio as the Senate President is unthinkable and shows the party as a massaging balm for falsehood and immoral legislative outbursts.

“Akpabio will not resign and has no intention to resign at any time because he has not committed any wrongdoing to warrant resignation.”

THE RIGHT THING TO DO SHOULD BE AN INDEPENDENT COUNSEL.

A THOROUGH INDEPENDENT INVESTIGATION IS OWED TO NIGERIANS.

WE CANNOT CLAIM TO BE FIGHTING CORRUPTION AND SWEEPING ALLEGATIONS UNDER THE CARPET.

THERE 3 ARMS OF GOVERNMENT, THE JUDICIAL ARM SHOULD SET UP AND INDEPENDENT COUNSEL TO INVESTIGATE ALLEGATIONS.

THE PEOPLE WHO ARE ACCUSED OF BUDGET PADDING CANNOT GANG UP AND SUSPEND THE ACCUSER.

WE ARE SETTING A BAD PRECEDENCE IN THE SENATE.

Very good..we weren't expecting him to resign...expecting a Nigerian politician (who isn't Goodluck or the likes of NOI) is like asking for satan to repent of his sins and return back to God..

The average Nigerian politician is somewhat same as the devil.

The question is, was the budget padded?
Ningi is no saint, he is only shouting because he was cheated in the sharing formula

While agbado ijots would quickly tag you ipob, obidient, enemy of the state etc simply because you Iife out these anomalies, they are languishing and perishing in their closets but would come outside to defend nonsense with empty stomach

It now looks as if Ningi was drunk when he said that. Investigation needs to be conducted on the NASS members and leaders.

In saner climes( for those of you that hate this word, we will continue to remind you that Nigeria still has a long way to go) an independent investigator would have been appointed by the justice ministry to look into such allegations. But here, the sharing formula has already been agreed on, so nothing will happen and the money would be “chopped” recklessly. These are the monies when converted to dollars diminishes the value of the naira and not the abokiis in zone 4.

Lawmakers would raise supplementary budget? Do you even know anything about governance at all?
NA has been doing budget padding since 1999 and they won't stop now. 2025 budget and beyond will still be padded because that's where and how they get their own extra juice. And the president will always sign it if he needs that budget

In your saner climes the biggest heist is taking place. AIPAC bribes the politicians with less than 20m dollars and they vote to transfer 4billion dollars of American taxes to Isreal every year which is 14billion dollars this year.

All the facilities they don’t provide for their American citizen their American taxes is providing it for Isreal citizens.

This one you are complaining about Isreal, what concerns isreal with people stealing money for their selfish use? Didn’t you hear Biden was investigated for taking secret documents home. Always trying to justify stealing of public resources by saying the other guy is stealing also.
