Veteran Nollywood actor, Amaechi Muonagor has called on Nigerians to assist him financially to carry out a kidney transplant in India.

In a video circulating on social media, the popular actor was seen

His Nollywood colleague Kingsley Orji, who was seated next to him, made an appeal on his behalf

Amaechi Muonagor left the teaching hospital some days ago due to financial constraints.

He stated that the illness had affected his speech and urged fans and well-wishers to contribute for a transplant surgery.

It has not been easy. He has been in this condition for months now. He wants to go for a kidney transplant. What we want is for you to help us for him to travel to India,” Orji said.

“He just came back from the ICU in Nnewi teaching hospital a couple of days ago. He was responding to treatment but not very well.

“We decided to bring him home because there was no money but it is not advisable. He barely talks well. Please, he needs your help.”

Recall in November 2023, Amaechi Muonagor had cried out for help after revealing that he was battling paralysis which has affected half of his first leg

His words: “I’m sick, this thing that is called stroke caught up with me, and from there they rushed me to the hospital. The first hospital they rushed me to was in Nnewi, where I spent some two months and I was referred to Teaching Hospital Nnewi and here I am.

“I was on a movie set with Emeka Ani, Patience Ozokwo, Rita Edochie, and Ebele Okaro. I was about to enter my car when I was struck with this problem and since then it has been getting worse. Right now, I can’t move, I can’t walk on my own. Half of my left leg is paralyzed, my left hand is not movable, so it is a problem for me.

“I’m calling on well spirited individuals to come to my assistance, to see how they can help me. It is paralysis, half of my body.”

This is sad, what's happening in our Nollywood industry.

The male actors keep falling sick every now and then, from Olu Jacobs to Mr IBU(now late) and Amaechi in recent time.

It's really very unfortunate, what's been befalling our veteran Nollywood actors and actresses.
Wish him speedy recovery.

Dem no get pussaay. The harsh life men face when they cannot fully provide

It's not like this men earned much during the active stage of their career or necessarily made bad financial choices. They were just passionate doing what they loved and lived with its consequences.

I hope he gets the needed financial assistance. Our rich money bags (who love to brag about how rich they are) should step up to this challenge instead of continuing to finance the useless lifestyle of ungrateful, cheating women that fill the street these days

Every time an actor is sick, I see people always saying what is happening in nollywood? These people are humans, as they grow older, body system becomes weak. Their issue are only publicise because they are celebrities. Go to the hospital & see the number sick people there. It has nothing to do with nollywood, but human nature.

Thats
Not
Kidney
Disease

Thats
Stroke
Kidney transplant doesn't treat stroke.

Its unfortunate, stroke can be treated with very early presentation to equipped facilities where the blood clots can be retrieved or lysed.
If the brain tissue is iinfarcted, there is only miracle to gain 100% of function, physiotherapy only helps very little depending on the extent.

Regular blood pressure check and judicious use of antihypertensive can prevent all these.

Anyone falls sick
People have strokes everyday especially with this economy
Its on news for him because he is an actor.

Please don't joke with your health
Its far costly to cure than to prevent

Emeka Rollas, maybe it is time to have comprehensive health insurance for actors and actresses.

I recall reading something like that in Mr Ibu's case, but the AGN withdrew when his wife allegedly started causing problems.

As a guild, it might help to set some money aside in a dedicated account or even open a small cooperative for actors to contribute 5,000 monthly to look after one another in case of emergencies.

For families who find themselves here, please reach out to NGOs and foundations. Some of them might be able to help.

These are men who became famous in Nollywood when actors were paid peanuts. I cannot believe that a movie maker complained that actors charging 1 million per role was expensive.

It's dangerous and degrading to be famous and broke. Actors are supposed to be rich people; that's the way it is in Hollywood. I hope public-spirited individuals and the government will help him. Our actors should be better than this.

Some thorough investigation need to be done so as to know what's happening exactly..
These whole sick and late actors name need to be traced to a movie, tour or gatherings they all partake together.
who knows, they might have unknowingly stepped on a serpent's tail or crossed a line that they don't know while shooting a scene.
Maybe some gods need to be appeased cos it's kinda confusing how they're all ending up like this.
My one cent.

I don't really know if I would have said Baba Tuwale!!!!

During 2003/04. I had an ample opportunity that I would have fused myself into Nollywood.

As creative and talented I am, I didn't and later regretted. I would have been a Super Star by now, I would have still made some good fortunes by now.

But who knows?

There is always a reason for any season.

Women,generally,have better health seeking habits.

On the average, most patients who frequent hospitals in Nigeria are women and children under 5
