Hopefully it goes lower than 1k soon, so we can start addressing prices of goods and the greed of distributors in Nigeria.

Why are you crying? Even if the naira hit 1000/$, it's still very poor of this Govt, they met it at 750/$

Good one, Cardoso.

Government should ensure that proceeds of corruption are not offloaded on the market, especially looted naira cash. This is one of things that causes naira to depreciate. Once politicians and their associates discharges their looted funds into the system, so much naira money will be chasing few dollars, making devaluation inevitable

Those wey buy when it was above 1500 will cry blood.

Except they will play the long game, and hope by some expected cluelessness down the road, the Dollar gains back against the long-suffering Naira.

It was a different era then, naira was being subsidized which gave it an artificial value and it was too costly for Nigeria, we were borrowing to sustain it's value. So now d naira is no longer subsidized so this is good news. If d naira can stabilize to N800-N900, I will celebrate Cardoso and PBAT as d greatest ever

Where's this guy grin As a profound digital assets and FX trader cool I told Nland kids that USD will crash and I predicted 1,300 in the first quarter but most of them like this guy called me names.
The case of Naira falling against the USD in an ambiguous manner is just like the case of tulip bulb in the 18th century. Those who bought at 1800 expecting 2k + should count their loss and move on grin grin

Current prices right now

Black Market 1520/$

CBN 1410/$

Aside all that, crude oil price keeps marching upwards. Which means higher subsidy costs for government.

While nominal forex price is painfully high, the REAL PROBLEM is the existence of a noticeable differential between CBN and black market. I trust I don't need to explain.

Good Luck to Nigeria.
