Wow.. what a sad read undecided

So if, from the entire article, it is truly related to land dispute, not oil bunkering as suspected...

And Defence HQ has at least two people: one speedboat driver that survived the first ambush and another person that ran out of the burning house from the Okuama community and is privy to very useful information on the killings..

why levelling the entire community?

So you expect the land to be an ordinary land. That's a potential land of oil field.

There is nothing untold in this Story, for even one of the Militants in the accused Community have made it bare on the On- going- Social Media Video by saying what he knows and the Truth on what really transpired!
Afterall,there 3-sides to an issue:
1.the First Community.
2. the Second Community and
3. the Truth itself, that we are searching for!
If you now said - the issue is because of the land but is the land having Oil Resources and on whose side is it located?
Is there any Special Interest in this regards?

[[i]b]Military didn’t come for peacekeeping – Militant leader
Daring the government to declare him wanted if it so wished, during the week, an unnamed militant, who communicated in Pidgin English, said the soldiers allowed some influential people to use them to repress the people of Okuama.

He claimed that the Okuama and Okoloba communities were indeed having a land dispute and connected Ijaw people who used the army to escort and carry out their crude oil business, betrayed their brothers.

He disclosed they used soldiers to ‘carry’ three people and slaughtered them, adding, “The day the soldiers were killed, they came to carry our community leaders, and the youth knew that once the community leaders were captured, they would be powerless.”

From his explanation, they killed the soldiers to stop them from taking away the community leaders and making the youths of Okuama ineffective.

“That is why the action took place but people say the soldiers came for peacekeeping. Point of correction – no army came for peacekeeping. They are fighting in support of somebody who ordered them to do so.

“This is my last video; my father is a retired army captain; he died last year, and I have lost over six of my friends and relatives in Nigeria.

“If you like, take the matter to the next level. If you like, make the Federal Government declare me wanted, I am proud of it. You people are saying show my face, if I show my face, what will you do to me,” he said

The reason given by the militant leader do not hold water. If your Father is a retired Army Captain
was he killed by ambush,

was he killed by dismantle of his body parts.

If you are really fighting for the good of your community you will stop all this nonsense

You said no Army goes for peacekeeping despite being an Army child Nigeria Army have gone to different peace keeping operations all over the world

You will be proud when the government declare you wanted but you are hiding your face

You want to be faceless leader

No matter what happened, those military men shouldn't have been killed and to make matters worse their bodies gruesomely decapitated.
It was barbaric and a call to war.
I urge the Nigerian military to methodically search and apprehend those barbarians.
But the lives of the innocent women and children including the elderly should be spared.
angry angry angry
Did you see the elderly men and women are involved in the whole story, just say women and children.
The community was involved, they sent the youths.

This is hard to believe:

They said the soldiers should drop their weapons if they came for peace talks.

”The commanding officer asked his men to drop their weapons, and as they did so, the community youths took the weapons away from all of them. Then, suddenly the youths descended on them by butchering them from all angles.

At that point, I stopped reading the remaining parts of the article. sad

Though we can all says what the army did is bad for burning down the whole community but with some fact ARMY are know for their rugedity in both action and dealings... You can only differenciate a army from police based on their brutality and skills ... Even in our police force of today no one community dare kill a police officer and be expecting such community to have a peaceful sleep... My fellow citizen , is not possible...
Okay they can said they misplace or mistook them (soldiers) for another person but think it yourself, you tie someone before killing them, some of those soldier will surely talk in the process that they are not merchinery that they belong to the Nigeria arm forces when they are not dump and deaf atleast they will also see their bagde on them to differentiate them...
The one saying if they see him face wetin them wan use him do should come out maybe they won't use him do thousand...
It cool to deals with your local vigilante than dealing with police or Army...
If they had opportunity of someone to remember them ODILLI (if am correct)massacre during Obasanjo I believe they won't have do what they did...
If God could made me a president of this great country... Anybody who or community who come together to deals talkless of killing personnel of my Arm forces will surely regret it and be put in history...
Don't let the pride and respect of our Arm forces fade away ...
God bless Nigeria and Nigerian

Though what the Culprit did is barbaric but two wrongs can't make a right, the retaliation is also barbaric, and this only happen in the South what of all the soldiers that have been killed in the North by bandits and terrorist, we've never heard of their communities been attacked

Rubbish! The NA is using taxpayers money to wage a war- Wastage! If the community is as heavily armed as the NA, do you think the NA will be able to match them?

Running away from asking the right questions- Who sent the NA as peace emissaries? Nonsense
Re: Okuama Massacre: The Untold Story by indigenous234(f): 2:30pm On Mar 23
Stand for what you know and believe is just... Don't become a faux patriot because your tribesman Tinubu is in power. Don't support everything the govt do irrespective of legality and morality. Tomorrow, that your tribesman will relinquish power and the injustice you institute today will come to hunt you and your generation.

That you don't know there's more to this than meet the eyes when, the hierarchy of a Nigerian army unit embark on a "peace keeping mission" without the input and knowledge of the police, the LGA chairman, The Councilor representing the village involved, the DPO of the Area involved, etc, tells a lot about your reasoning capacity.

Sincerely, I think Obidients are the only true patriots. Their desires is a working Nigeria. But you agbado people ehh.. God forbid bad thing.

Last last all this loss of life is not unconnected to money. In this case it is oil.
When will southerners have sense? Imagine close communities clashing because they want to control oil. Northerners would simply control government and have access to all the oil money they want.

Before that incident, the driver said: “While waiting at the waterfront, an old woman in pure water attire came out of the community and stared at us, making some incantations, and went back to the community. Within a few minutes, an old man with similar attire came to the same spot, gazed at us, and performed the same way as the old woman.”

”Not long after this scenario, the commander and his men started coming to the shore with the community chairman. At that moment, I made ready to start my engine just like my colleagues, but the engines refused to start, and efforts made to start the engines were to no avail at this point, I realized that the problem had come when I saw the performance of the old woman and the man.

”As the bullets started coming, the soldiers tried to respond, but none of their guns answered, and immediately I dived into the river. But suddenly, one of the engines started, some soldiers jumped into it, and the driver sped out of the community and carried me from the river.

Heh, this drama get everything, even sorcery. Nigerians and Tall Tales grin Lord of the Rings ain't a patch on this script.

Seriously, though , a revelation is yet to emerge on how approximately 17 soldiers could be ambushed, slaughtered, and apparently by villagers to-boot, without evidence of return fire.

The Nigerian Army should STOP THE KILLINGS AND DESTRUCTION OF PROPERTIES AT OKUAMA COMMUNITY. AND OUR PRESIDENT SHOULD SET UP AN INDEPENDENT INVESTIGATION ASAP TO DETERMINE THE ROOT CAUSE AND THE REAL CULPRITS BEHIND THIS SAD INCIDENT.
Did the slain army officer and his boys got any official clearance from DHQ to go on that ops?
The Nigerian Military should answer all our questions clearly and stop the killings and intimidation asap.

So because of the crooked Soldiers allegedly used by Okoloba community, the Okuoma people get mind after killing the alleged used soldiers still killed and decapitated bodies of another team comprising senior officers. The NA should level that Okuoma make Okoloba people claim ham, no sympathy for the evildoers

Listen to yourself "...make Okoloba people claim Okuama..."...una plan go fail.

Why would the military guys heed instructions from the villagers to drop their weapons and and they did, abi them use jazz on them? Very unlike the military, the first guys the villages took you no see you drop your weapons, no strategic positioning in case of anything. The story no complete.
