No one is disputing it being equally a rich source of carbohydrates, that much has been known for at least a century. The fact still is that 1 cup of beans contains relatively more fiber, proteins, and nutrients than say 1 cup of rice, potatoes, yam, garri, etc, which are staples on meal tables in even Nigeria.

100g of dry beans (not cooked) contains 20+g of protein, and a cup (205g tomato cup) contains above 200g of dry beans.
Calculated, it gives me over 40g of protein per cup.
For 70kg man, a 0.8g/kg of recommended protein intake per weight, gives 56g of protein required.

So a cup of beans after being cooked gives > 70% of recommended protein intake.
So beans is a very rich source of protein.

The evidence all around us proves that it is true. People who ate a lot of beans while growing up tend to grow taller than those who never liked beans. We can see evidence all around us.

Some people are mentioning genetics but they forget that there is 'nature' and there is 'nurture'. What you lack in nature you can still obtain through nurture.

Meaning, if you have a gene that predispose you to tallness you are bound to be tall no matter what you eat or fail to eat. But if you don't have such gene eating plenty of beans while growing up could help grow taller than you could ordinarily have been.

Beans!! Omo I like beans well well. There’s a myth that it makes someone know book well. But according to what we studied, Beans has incomplete protein based on essential amino acids. So it’s better to eat more of fish, eggs meat, diary for a balanced diet.

It is genetics. East Asians are not usually tall compared to the rest of the world, especially Northern Europeans or Eastern Africans. Exceptions exists, but that is why there are exceptions. Compared to other West Africans especially those West of the Sahara, we are not even that tall. As for kids who are taller than their parents, somewhere in any of the parent's lineage exist someone or persons who were very tall. Please read about recessive, co-dominant and dominant genes.

I wonder how food overtook the aspect of genetics. Mind you, genetics go back far in history. If it didn't dey, e didn't dey.
