That’s why you don’t understand the point I&swiz was referencing about,. Cost of production and other factored including the ripple effects of inflation had been factored. No be today pure water factory dey pack 16 for bag , that nah since last 3 months or more..
Those retailers are just damn greedy…just like larride said even supermarkets and malls sells for wåy low prices

I've explained it over and over again that supermarket can actually afford to sell cheaper than retailers cos the number of entity involved in the channel of distribution between manufacturer & supermarket is lesser.

Well I don't know about pure water factories packing 16 into bags sha

Legacy ShopRite was selling 5alive at a price lower than retailers, to the point that retailers started buying from shoprite to resell. It got so bad they reduced the amount of 5alive taht could be bought by one customer.

Nigeria is a weird place.

People literally take truck to ShopRite to buy drinks for a whole wedding party because their drinks are cheaper; as in cheaper than even buying from some drink depot and u don't worry about returning bottles grin

If u read two more pages of the thread u quoted, u will see other posters explaining that the N384k per annum quoted by the guy is just on paper and a far cry from what the staff of FAAN actually take home at the end of the year.

That being said, the logic just doesn't work that a person who has to buy at least N50k fuel in his car, pay maid, pay driver and other domestic staff will do that on N200k salary anywhere in this country. The money will never be enough to do all of that.

Maybe if the person is a pastor who gets handouts from his members sha o or if he is a civil servant who makes other income from undisclosed sources then I can agree

What you spend on fuel depends on how much you use the car, the distance you drive to work in 1 day is what some people drive in 1 week and some in 2 weeks
Some towns the motorable roads in the entire town can be driven in less than 1 hr. So his fuel expense can't be as much as yours

The FAAN guy can make more than that because of opportunities but some people in similar jobs don't have such opportunities. Or won't take such opportunities maybe due to fear of prosecution or religious beliefs

Do you believe there are teachers in Lagos who earn 40K per month? Bachelors degree. and drivers who earn 30k a month? So what do you think these people will earn outside big cities

Underpayment for Labor is very common in Nigeria especially in the interior states. 200k in some places will make you a king. Nigeria is big and vast. Think of the village or town you did NYSC and how much they earn on average in those places. While some olosho dey collect 200k for overnight in Lagos, in some places na 2k for the same

This is a Lagos advert offering 30K for teachers. Do you think any opportunity for side income go dey for teachers?

Teachers who earn 40k per month have other sources of income like private lessons, tutorials and engaging in petty trading. I know this because I interact with some of them.

See u are just creating an unrealistic scenario and running with it. In other states where they earn lesser than that, people engage in farming and other activities that fetch them extra cash .

This is not a discussion centered around underpayment for labor, but rather a discussion on whether 200k will afford u the luxury of being able to pay driver, maid and live comfortably. 200k will not do that for u in present day Nigeria, I say this as someone who live in Nigeria with fair idea of the cost of living right here in naija currently.

There's no how u will do the maths, it won't jive

Memphis will never risk that kind of move,I was skeptical about it since the day it was announced,no footballer no matter how secretly they back alves will risk getting cancelled.

Here is Felipe Melo's take. Robinho too has been found guilty of rape. He did the crime in Italy but he will serve his 9 years prison sentence in Brazil.

Even if these 200K salary earners with drivers and house helps exist, they're so rare that it makes nonsense of the Air Peace's guys point.

Bros just drop this argument abeg!
The scenario you are painting is that of Nigeria of may be ten years ago. You can argue that someone earning 200k in some parts of the country can leave a decent life but not the kind of life that can have a driver and maid on his payroll.
It's obvious you don't know how bad situations have become in Nigeria. Where will a man working in those remotest places you are referencing get a job of 200k per month? From which company exactly?

That is how they queued to apply pressure on Bokku bread when it was sold 950. Bokku had to start selling on two breads to each person but they were not dettered. They will take all their children and extended to the queue just to sell the same bread 1200 at their shops.

Bokku were only trying to save their business from those scavengers by trying to deal directly with the actual consumers.

Same thing with the company that makes charcoal stove. Someone will buy at 12500 from them and list on jumia at 50,000. The company had to start doing verification of individual purchase to weed out criminals. Still, they will register numerous sim cards to make different orders.

Those remote places have College of Education, Polytechnic etc some of the lecturers there earn that much in salary

There is a college of education in Ikere Ekiti, In Azare, how much do you think they earn as lecturers there. There are FG Unity schools in places like Ikirun, Ipetumodu, New Bussa, okigwe, all these places have banks too

And u think the lecturers in Ikere Ekiti who earn 200k have drivers they pay out of their 200k salary ?

I served in a Ubity school in the north and some level 16 officers who own cars no get driver . The only person that had driver was the principal who was a level 17 officer whose driver and domestic staff were being provided by the federal government .

In this present Naija , u can never pay a driver and maid out of 200k gross family income . Lai Lai !
