Unclebayo:I've seen wealthy Yorubas brag on the property section about not renting houses to Igbos, my landlady in Niger state voiced it out after her caretaker rented a flat to me in her absence (She's a Yoruba that lives in Abuja). One Nigeria is a scam. 4 Likes |

I remembered when I went for my siwes in a radio station in ilorin, the admin asked me which state I came from, I lied to him that I’m from ilorin, after signing the siwes log book ,then he remembered to check my name and unfortunately he saw a Christian name.  Anambra people will never rent house to Ebonyi man... Enugu man will never rent house to abia man.... Igbo man in Lagos will not rent house to Yoruba....... Even in Abuja, northern landlords are adopting this style of not wanting igbo tenants. This is not tribalism, it is due to past experience.... My current landlady will never rent house to Igbo... The last igbo guy she tried it with showed her shege and I was a witness to it. She gives her room to other tribes but not certain east people.. Growing up, we have Hausa, Kogi, Edo And igbos in our house.. The only problem the house have was the Igbo tenant.... That one left after so much issue and another one came, this one almost killed the whole tenants. Since then, they never rented to igbos again.... But other tribes full there well well.. So it's not tribalism but due to previous past experience with some set of igbos.... So if an Igbo cannot rent room to his fellow igbo man from another state, u shud not he surprised if others do it to them.. 8 Likes 2 Shares |

1Sharon:Domineering? No igbo man can domineer a Yoruba person except the Yoruba person just want to over look it.. Most time, yorubas are too diplomatic which makes it look like we are been trampled upon Yoruba and igbos are matchmade.... Equal for each other.. They pay rent but they flaunt house rules... It's preference of the owner, it's glaring he or she doesn't want Igbo client so respect the owner's decision. This is why it's good to watch our behaviour in other people's lands.. the bad behaved Igbos, those calling their hosts and landlords names, even dragging them to courts to avoid paying house rent when due have rubbed the others with mud that noone wants to have them as tenants. @OP You can rent out your own properties or house to Igbos.. nobody go hold you. Moreover how sure are you that a Yoruba person owns the property in question?. I've seen cases where Igbo property owners outside South East refuse to rent out houses to fellow Igbos to avoid trouble. 2 Likes 1 Share |
