Sure. Lagos should compensate him and execute the fantastic highway.

It's a federal road, not Lagos.

This is not about Paul Onwuanibe and his investment because he can file compensation claims and will likely receive it. This is about tearing down a magnificent structure like Landmark, which is such a credit to lagos. They shouldn't try it.

I feel like we are being set up for an embarrassment in the future. Something that will show just how irresponsible and thoughtless our leaders can be.
I wonder if/when the supposed road will be completed.

Lagos is not the one doing the road. It is the Federal Government.

Umahi should compensate everyone on that corridor that legitly got the land before they thought about coastal highway.

I heard it has been in the work for years but not just a reality yet.
Ah I see!

That's his claim, it will be duly valued and paid accordingly just like other government compensations. Government does not just look at cost of projects but investment, development and returns for decades.

The $200m claim is lamba. It can't be worth up to that. I'll be surprised if it's actually worth more than $50m.

The road is worth more than the resort.

Think of the larger picture. Imagine the number of investment that will spring up across those coastal lines from Lagos to the South-South where it will terminate.

Just think about the massive real estate investment. On normal non-water areas, when you have new roads built, it aid investment and real estate. Now you’re thinking about houses closer to the coast. It will bring more of those beaches investment across board and not only in Lagos alone.

This is the letter sent to landmark beach, they only require 50m of the facilities for the right of way. Not like the government is demolishing everything. Mind you, they ain’t the only one, there are some other investments impacted.

"Valued at over $200 million, according to Onwuanibe, the Landmark site is home to over 80 businesses and provides more than 4,000 direct jobs. It also generates over 2 billion Naira ($1.5 million) in annual tax revenue"

They’re prepared to lose $1.5 million annually in tax and 4000 jobs in these hard times. Why, because Tinubu and his all Yoruba advisers are real dullards who will not stop until they see the country in ruins. Even the CNN reporter is shocked! Funny thing there is, they think they’re dealing with the Igbos, but I bet over 50% of those 4000 jobs sent into the unemployment market will be Yoruba.

You guys should stop talking like retards for once and stop playing victim. You want to subject the collective good of millions of Nigerians to the selfish interest of an individual and his phantom claims of 4000 jobs and non-existing $1.5m annual whatever. Why do you guys reason with your anus?

Thank God the minister in charge is an Igbo man. Go to Biafra assembly and report and stop disturbing our peace.

You may as well pack your bags and get the fvck out of Lagos with your Mr Owambe or what's his name.

If you knew the caliber of structures America tears down to build new structures, you'll see that this is moi-moi. If White House needs to be demolished and relocated for a very important road line like this Lagos-Calabar road, they'll do it! One of the reasons Nigerian towns and cities are so jaga jaga is due to the lack of willingness to demolish structures to align with earlier or new city-plan layouts.

That road can be routed around Landmark and that was the original plan.

what are the caliber of structures America tears down to build new structure?

how is this structure to be seen as "moi-moi" or anything less than what you claim America tears down?

what makes Lagos-Calabar road so important?

how is demolishing Landmark resort the solution to the jaga jaga of Nigerian cities and how will it make Lagos "align with earlier or new city-plan layouts"?

I doubt there will be any compensation. I read somewhere a long time ago that the LUA allows government to dictate any price for compensation.

State Governor must also give consent to any land transfer.

No Nigerian owns any land. When I read about this guy a few months back my immediate reaction was that he must have some political protection. Anyone can go find the thread and see my post. A new era has arrived I guess.

Investing in Nigeria is too risky. The ordinary people are even worse than government. I'm sure many have been tested by Nigeria. I don't understand the mass credulity. Whatever.

Good Luck to Nigerians

I hope they pay him his due compensation if not it is still the same bigotry and hatred by these wicked fellows! Just few days to abandon a project of that magnitude

You obviously lack cognitive capacity to understand that the government already asked him to file for claims and that the project is a federal government initiative and not the Lagos state project as that would have given you more reasons to moan over nothing. By the way, should a project that would bring more economic value to the country and Nigerians be shelved aside because it will affect one individual's interest? Better quit this your victim mentality.
