PROPEACE:The problems of the educational sector can be traced to their foundation. The educational system in Nigeria were designed by the British Colonial Masters to suit their Agenda I.e To produce Clerical officers to assist in running the Colonial Gov't Offices To produce graduates in Arts & Humanities: to learn how to behave and conform to authorities To produce Health workers: who will man the hospitals. The Colonial Masters deliberately prevented introduction of certain courses like Law: they didn't want too many people to be aware of their rights Science, Engineering and Technology: They didn't want the local people to develop critical minds that can make them independent of their Colonial Masters Pharmacy: they didn't want Nigerians to start producing their own medicines . After independence, these courses were introduced but based on faulty templates left by the colonial Masters. We suppose to have changed them. Have you ever wondered that most of the houses in Nigeria were built by Artisan like Bricklayers, Masons, Electricians, carpenters, tilers and others, who had their training in the informal sector outside the educational institutions? Most of the vehicles on our roads are serviced and maintained by mechanics who had their training outside the educational sector. Most of the foods we eat are also produced by farmers ,who had their training outside the educational sector. Law |

Front0lane:Till you people understand that national development, economy has no political affiliation. What needs to be condemned will be condemned irrespective of who or what party is in power. I have commended this administration for a number of things: 1. Student loan 2. Deregulation of oil sector (even if it hadn't taken full effect) 3. Renovation of 3rd mainland bridge. 4. All that is happening in Abia(even if is an lp state it's still under this administration) 5. The quick response of the FG to the naira fall. And many beautiful projects I can't remember now. I am not like some idiots that a topic will be about national development and they will derail it to start insulting Obi and our Igbo brothers as if Obi is in active governance. And yes I am Obidient |

Sirmwill:This question is baseless if you understand the fundamental issues. The Nigerian engineers are equally good, but there's no foundation to achieve their technological prowess. You should also ask, why is Nigeria not developed while the Western countries are far more developed? |

Dpharisee:You are very correct. That is to say the government know what they are doing ie eye service, they don't care about the masses. All they want is praises from outsiders so they will think the city is a metro city |

Heffalump:The Educational system in Nigeria is NOT designed to make Nigeria developed but to act as appendage of the developed countries. In our schools, students are thought * to learn foreign languages *what has ALREADY HAPPENED in developed countries, mostly with textbooks written by foreign authors based on their environments Then students are examined on well they are able to MEMORIZE these theories and concepts. This system create serious barriers to most Africans to fully understand and INTERNALIZE THE KNOWLEDGE of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM), so real life applications of what the students are thought in schools is minimal. The Overall Impact: EDUCATED Africans subconsciously become 'programmed' to believe that development must come from these already developed countries. Our Plumbers, electricians, mechanics, welder, carpenters and many other artisans are mostly peoples who dropped out from the educational system and opted for informal training which is done in their mother tongues and based on practical learning of what they see daily in their environments which make it easy for them to come and understand the concepts. Nigeria would be far more developed if our educated citizens also have the skills and practical knowledge of these artisans or if the artisans also have the education of the educated class=> We need to to redesign our educational system to provide a unique blend of both categories. |

Melagros:Obirodents and insecurity. These are government projects. Ive seen Anambra state projects on this forum as well as Alex otti's own. For sure, the government in power would like to showcase its projects to the public as they are campaign materials for the coming election, you dont have to open the thread if youre not interested in the project. ENSURE YOU DONT MAKE USE OF THE PROJECTS AS WELL since you dont like them. |
