PDP sold NEPA to incompetent individuals while Government keeps paying subsidy to support their operations. Such can only happen in Nigeria where we keep giving money to buyers of public assests. They are only interested in collecting subsidies to futher enrinch themselves, for so long, Government has been paying subsidy for darkness. Kudos to the President for gradually putting a stop to the fraud.

which fraud did Tinubu put an end to?

pls what is subsidy? can you pls explain what it means and how it is a bad thing for government to provide?

You know that since we didn't complain about Fuel subsidy removal,.

Even the minister of Power said it..

Since you can buy Diesel ₦1,900

Why can't you spend ₦225 on electricity..

Don't worry Nigeria will adjust to the suffering as usual..

Food prices as gone over the Roof since January 2024.. did we not adjust..

So calm down..

It's not their fault my brother.

This is exactly the black mentality that may never let the black people's countries Advanced. Whatever is not directly concern you but seriously affecting others is a less concerned to some people like this person, you have forgotten that what will concern you is coming to you one way or the other in the future.

What can really be done to bring succour to the Common Man

Common man, as been betrayed by there Senior Comerades...

Tinubu already divided the NLC and TUC leadership...

There is no registered comerade available to defend the common Man again..

Fela, Oshiomole, Fawehinmi gave Government tough time in the Past..

I feel all these banding are just pure scam and lies to justify their reason to increase power fees.

What band will unmetered consumers be classified under? Because we have majority of Nigerian consumers to be unmetered.

What could be more foolish?
You shut down your refinery and sold out your petroleum and started buying petrol back?
What could be more foolish?

You have started again?

This is how you people were shouting kudos to Buhari till he finished the economy and same you people are complaining.

It's just a matter of time and you will start complaining again.

At times I will start wondering if most of you are cursed that you don't understand when things are going out of hand.

this write up is a bloody lie and only ignorant people will believe it. First you can never use the same number of units in a month. It's practically impossible. I know because I've been using prepaid meter for 12 years and I've never used the same units twice. Secondly if u don't have light your meter will not read so you can't be using the units when there's no light. Common sense has become scarce on nairaland I now use the platform only once or twice a week

Subsidy has to go for power to improve. Once the market has injection of cash, more players will come in, more competition and cheaper prices for all in the long run.

Transcorp energy just floated their stocks, they account for a combined 1200 MW approx. They are anticipating cash injection, and that would lead to more turbines purchased, more expansion.

Egbin power plant just announced that they about to add wind turbines to their plant, thus even increasing power output.

Mr Musa, what all new investment will do is make Gencos ramp up power production at sustained rate. Bills from Discos will reflect market cost, and new players will enter, bringing prices down for all in the near future.

Banks will also start lending to Gencos and Discos because they are now confident the market has been reformed for power operators to pay back.

More investment also means more job opportunities for youths, because power companies will need more technicians, engineers, etc.

The basic thing is, at the end, the power sector is operating at a loss because of subsidy.

I see people saying they made profit last year. Well, debts to the gas companies would eat the profit, and they still will owe some money. And we haven't even mentioned government tax, and a host of other costs that need to be paid.

At the end, we have bad light because we don't want to pay for good light supply.
