My name is Ileri Babalobi and I am trying to become the 1st African to visit all 54 African countries without using a plane. In the process,I plan to set 2 Guinness world records and Raise money for the Nigerian Red Cross. I expect to take about 6months. Here's why I'm doing this

I've been backpacking for nearly 10 years now. I have been to all 36 states of Nigeria, and when I lived in Ghana, all the 16 regions there as well as over a dozen African countries. i've been trying to visit all African countries for a long time and I'm finally close to doing it

On the trip I'll be exploring the culture and visiting the Tourist Areas of each place I visit and stream it on YouTube here https://youtube.com/@africatours . I've always been interested in how people in other cultures and places live. Which brings me to why I'm making this trip . ..

1) Im very Pro Nigerian and without being facetious, I've always wanted to do something for her Gratis . I hope to raise a lot of money for the Nigerian Red Cross. The official name of the attempt is Naija to the World and at each Border I'll take a picture with the Nigerian flag.

2 I want to show how people in other countries live
3 I would be promoting the Borderless Africa campaign by Africans Rising, which seeks to remove barriers to migration ( such as expensive visas) among African Nations.
4) it's a Chance to fulfill a life long personal dream .

I'll leave from Lagos in March and I plan to do a daily summary here on nairaland everyday , as well as two YouTube videos of the days adventures.
Advice and tips are welcome

Nice. Traveling with a small group will make it more interesting and safer, and there will be more hands for any missionary or community work.

@Bablojnr

Don't forget to inform the big YouTubers such as @WodeMaya and @TayoAinaFilms (if you haven't done so yet) about your GWR attempt to visit 54 African countries by road. I'm looking forward to your daily summaries on NL from March 2024.

An international travel YouTuber, Jubril Agoro (a British-born guy of Yoruba parentage, who moved to Chicago at the age 9 with his mum and younger brother from the UK) of @PassportHeavy is another great guy you can reach out to for more publicity. Jubril was based on the Island of Bali in Indonesia but is now living in Miami, Florida.

I'm big on global leisure travel as well so your plan here resonates with me.

More power to your elbows.

Cheers!

With Pelumi Nubi's recent London to Lagos trip by road in 69 days... Your impending trip is indeed doable.

All the best.
Re: Ileri Babalobi GWR: I Am Visiting 54 African Countries Without Using A Plane by bablojnr(op): 9:36am On May 02, 2024
I'm visiting every country In Africa without using a plane. Day 1.

. I entered Bénin Republic through the Semé Border from Badagry. You can get to seme in different ways but since I knew the terrain I went in the most affordable way. From Mile 2 in Lagos to Seme is 5000 naira by a straight car but if you break the journey into 2 or 3 you spend only 2 or 3000 naira. You can take a bus from mile 2 to Agbara and Agbara to Badagry roundabout for about 700 and 500. From Badagry to Seme is about 600 naira but if you take pay for two seats in front it's double that money. It's been a while since I went that route so prices may vary by 100 or so. Instead I took a bike from the Red cross office at Yaba to Oyingbo for 600, then took a rickety, nearly packed up bus of the type common in Lagos to Agbara, and from there to Badagry for 500 naira . My journey Began with a Tragedy which I am just talking about for the first time . I looked up to see the moment a tricycle ran into a very young Boy, spilling his brain Nearly unto the pavement. At first one or two people in the bus thought he was still alive but as he was lifted up and the Brains fell out into the pavement, his true fate became known. The air was rent with cries of pain of sadness. If I were superstitious , I'll have ended the journey right there. I didn't though but I continued .
In reality I spent two days in Badagry while trying to clear up a few outstanding issues in Nigeria, but at the end I got tired and moved on without rounding up. At badagry, I visited or rather re visited the slave museums and the First story building in Nigeria. At the border I took a car to Cotonou ( 1500 Francs) and bought some lovely street food. Pics to come

P:s in Light of the current fuel scarcity, it's likely that some of the prices may have changed
