Hold on there this lies that igbos rejected secession clause in the constitution must stop. When the founding fathers went to Lancaster, the British gave as a precondition for independence that the borders of colonial Nigeria with exception of Southern Cameroon which was administered as part of a League of Nations/UN resolution must not be touched. So Britain already ruled out secession from any discussions of Nigeria's unity. They did it because they were wary of the French and USSR.

Also the unitary system by Ironsi did not abolish regions it only unified the civil service it didn't touch the revenue sharing formula at all. I have a friend from Delta state whom I asked about Yoruba language presence in the state and he categorically stated that no single part of Delta state speaks Yoruba,but that Itshekiri tribe in the southern part of the state speaks a language very closely related to Yoruba.
He mentioned that the so called " Yoruba" called Olukwumu are actually Igbos whose ancestors migrated from parts of Owo and Akure in what is presently predominantly Yoruba speaking SW.
