He is simply saying you can't compare the love of a father to that of stranger. No doubt, the money is there. But if the children need an assistance, it's easier to approach your father than a stranger.

I'm talking from experience. Any time I'm stranded, I can comfortably call my dad for help. You can't compare such when dealing with a stranger.

Let's not forget this is something that's habitual. It's not a one-time thing.
