oh OK, you can learn the basics coding in 6 months, but to be proficient enough to handle real deal project and be employable, you need another 1 year and 6 months to practice consistently.

Do you mean the salary I'm being paid monthly?

Honestly, it not that stressful but very time demanding. Waking up as early as 4-4:30 am and closing by almost 7pm daily. It's one day off in a week. No observation of public holidays
You are doing NYSC but could not understand that simple English?

The organization I worked for was an NGO, but unfortunately, the Executive Director (ED) lacked understanding of his role. Our Program Manager acted as though he was a god, exerting control over everything and everyone in a toxic and arrogant manner. Prior to my arrival, five other staff members had already left due to the toxic work environment.

The Program Officer/Manager constantly complained about me and even accused me of being a threat. The final straw came when an external auditor came to audit the organization. As the accountant, I was responsible for keeping records, preparing the final report, performing bank reconciliations, managing assets, and other tedious tasks. However, the Program Officer began manipulating figures and tampering with the final report. When questioned by the auditors, he shifted the blame onto me, with the ED always supporting him.

On the day that salaries were meant to be paid, I left in frustration and turned to remote work instead. Today, I am grateful to be in a happier and more fulfilling work environment.

Sales job font want to.mention the company but they deal.in insurance... it was so.toxic I didn't collect my salary. The boss always want you to report everyday how.much services you sold. When I saw staff hiding in toilet room I had to give myself brain I ain't working in fear. I resigned after. The way the regional boss shout at people you will think people lack sense.

Your ignorance is on another level. I don't know him neither do I know you, but if you know how much people like you make online from digital skills, you will never ever work for anybody again. The last time I worked for any company was 8 years ago. Be humble and ask him to put you through instead of sounding childish. It's still on this forum that I learnt what I do currently and it pays 5 times more than my former salary, yet I have my freedom.

You younger folks are always quick to use careless words. go to other forums like reddit, and see how respectful people comment on threads.

I had to quit this kind of madness, 10 years ago. It was a great company, with great pay. A well known investment bank. Saved as much as I could, invested much of my savings into getting my place. After working, with good savings, I set up my own independent consulting firm in the same job functions I was handling. The money may not be flowing as it was coming as a regular staff, but my quality of life is top notch. The little fees I am earning from my consulting is paying my bills and I work at my own pace from my house. At this my level, being a billionaire is not my dream, but being able to earn a descent income and be in a good shape of health. My former colleague that remained have all risen to their respective levels and some have continued to support my consulting business with referrals. Status wise, i don't see much difference between me and them. Some of them have also japaed and are in various places around the world. I can't compromise quality of life, freedom and attention to my family on anything. It is early sunday morning now and I am heading to my usual road workout with friends, to be back by 9:40a.m and take my kids to children's Sunday Mass by 10am

embarassed Due to joblessness & frustration I applied for a driver job at a hotel, during the interview with the CEO, he noticed I was well learned, he then requested for my credentials, after seeing degree certificate, nebosh certification etc
He said his conscience can't allow him to use a graduate as a driver. He then offered me the position of the hotel manager on a salary of 50k, I was very happy and grateful initially but I had to abscond after a month of working there without salary and fulfilment.

First the female supervisor managing the hotel operations before refused to handover critical management portfolios to me as instructed by the CEO, so I was still reporting to her daily.
The other staff complained badly of their meagre pay and some have not been paid for 3 months, they would not take instructions from me citing they have not been paid salaries. The hotel was like a porn hub, the CEO wasn't ready for a change, instead he will be telling me to create a better new work culture amongst the staff.

I would sit in the office with a non functional computer, move round the hotel daily, all staffs were still reporting to the supervisor.
I had no tangible task to handle as the manager. I later noticed my presence was a threat to the female supervisor's choppings shockedshocked

I took excuse from her that I was going to buy food outside and that was how I disappeared from there till date grin grin grin

Most Lagosian are on this table.

The quality of life is reduced, they don't have time for themselves, as a family person you kids only get to see you on weekends because by Monday- Friday 5:00 am you are off to work, the wife suffers more because the person is always tired to perform his manly duties

Me and my guy went to this metal scrap recycling company owned by either a Chinese or Indian I can't remember again. So in other departments, the pay is #800 per day while in this particular one, it's #1200 because you have to directly deal with fire. So me and my guy said why not? We started calculating our pay before we even started. Omo, after seeing red hot fire and my inability to pull a certain fiery rod out of fire and how I could lose my feet with just one mistake coupled with the fact that other departments closed earlier than us, I just told my guy I'll not come the next day. I got home and told my parents, they agreed with me not to go again.

It's not... I've been doing diy solar since around 2016/2017, and I'm strictly on solar at the moment—never invited an installer. I buy stuff and install myself... I started with using direct panels to charge phones and a powerbank via a car charger. Later graduated to PWM, and now with MPPT...

Let me share mine;

I went as far as even giving testimony in church not knowing it was one chance I entered. Out over 134 candidates I was amongst the two applicants that got the job.

First day, introduction to the team and the office. Few minutes later 😉 staff meeting, the AC wan freeze me, all staff with smiling face not knowing it was part of their responsibility to make the new staff think it all rosey. 🤔

Secondary day, I didn't clock in, a mail was sent that it would be deducted from my pay, ah! Without no notifications ❌ 😔

Third day, I saw the boss shouting with careless abandon towards a staff, kini eleyi bayi?

Fourth day, there was a sent forth for a staff, I 🤔

Fifth day, I heard a loud slap, I had to ask the receptionist and she told me. It was a slap by the boss to someone

Day six, it was already passed the closing time and you expect me to say at least for a minutes behind, yet I cannot come in late irrespective of the circumstances

Day 7, I was on my way home this is 23 minutes past five, that I should submit a report before 6:00pm same day 🥺

I believe that as a person working in a place, the employer should have empathy on an employee
But alas, that's not what I got, in sickness I worked, the insults, like no tomorrow all for peanuts. I just stylishly left the place. Nobody stay there for more than 3 months.
evidence, location?

Oh. That was a long time ago. I just returned from the UK after my degree. I interviewed with Rocket Internet just before they set up Jumia in Nigeria. I was given a verbal offer. I accepted, worked one week and quit. I think I was interviewed by a German and Spanish guy like in Ikoyi.

The job was business development and it too too was stressful. Lagos traffic wanted to drive me crazy.

So you are this exposed yet spend valuable time trolling online. Why on earth would anyone do that to themself?

I know a few people into hospitality… I do try to help around but it’s quite hopeless if the person is too gentle. They should try being a bit aggressive like the lady in that guys story (I’m not supporting her actions oo).

They come to work giving attitude, not interested in the food, no rapport or relationship with guests. If you love to host and feed people, these things can never be a problem.

Maybe my friends are just bad at interviewing people sha o

I hate this pattern of work life actually..

I actually staying in Abuja with my family, I have deal with one my client, consulting for a project in lekki area, for period of 2 months, I was staying with my brother in mainland, going to lekki everyday was hell, enter BRT at Dopemu around 5:30am, close from site around 6pm, reach house by 9:30 to 10pm. I nearly have issues with my clients, not because of anything, but the stress. I told him didn't program my life that, he was shocked.

Same situation I'm in right now. Just that I close around 6:30pm - 7pm. If I wake anything less that 4: 30 am I will most probably be late.

I'm thinking of quiting. I'm doing my Nysc, but I've ghosted the PPA coz allowee wasn't sustaining.

I noticed that my mum isn't in approval of me quitting coz of the body language she's giving and it's because she doesn't like the idea of one staying at home.

I'm not quitting to just sit idle at home, but until I get another job, I might have to spend some time home. I'm totally confused sef
Don't quit if you don't have other work because you will regret it, your savings, psycology effects

Yes, toxic environment.

I should have known the day I went for interview. I waited over 40mins before I was attended to, but as at that time I needed a job badly.

Wk 1 mail wasn't working, after series of complaints, in space of 3 days it was fixed.
Wk 2 I observe certain persons wouldn't attend meetings but if I didn't attend hell will break loose and I will be given query
Wk 3 I saw shege in the hands of customers because of inferior quality of products
Wk 4 it dawn on me that it was an animal farm because some staff get certain benefits and you get none with so much responsibilities, oya pay me my money it got to the 2 week of the following month. I got the salary and told them,I will return shortly and I never came back 🔙

Yep. Very familiar. Toxic work space, arbitrariness and no SOP.
