What's the point of appealing now when the final determination may last for that six month (or three months) as the case. Just kukuma wait out your sentencing and walk out..

Shim is trying to save face from the stigma of bring labelled an ex-convict. Hence the need for the appeal to see if the judgement can be quashed

But then the Judge was obviously biased against Bobrisky's cross-dresser lifestyle.

watch how people will come and call you all sorts of names starting with "Bobrisky Fan" but Nigerians are our own problem and people just want to see another man be ruined and punished even when the punishment outweighs the crime.

Such biased and high-handed judgement could be passed on anybody but who cares? Bobrisky doesn't deserve justice because his way is not everybody's way.

so you wouldn't appeal if you were treated so unfairly? you would just sit in jail and let the time run without using your rights?
Or you are just saying this because it is someone you don't like.?

Was a bit excessive. Spraying money is a cultural thing. Not like he killed anybody.

Changing culture of decades requires a long period of reorientation.

Just fine the person for the reprint and let's move on. Nor be them dey cause Naira devalution.

To be fair this was not fair in line with the law. If he pleaded guilty it should come lesser than the maximum sentence. What then is the incentive for pleading guilty in the first place. This judges self with their okporoko head. Anyway we know why them sentence am sha.

But aside nairalander's hardly read anything full text to understand proper context before commenting

Not squashed. The appeal court will order a retrial if his legal team can proof to the court he was not given fair trial but he pleaded guilty in this case.

Be a Man, you say no! Go sch, you say no! Now see ur life. Both you and your lawyer are stupid.
Why tf will you plead guilty to such nonsense case? Efcc left money guzzlers in the government to come after you in the name of Naira abuse and you didn't ask them what they've done to their own corrupt boss, where's all the money they claimed they recovered and why it hasn't been accounted for. Show them how stupid they are for trying to play with you and ask them to prove that u abused the Naira. Slam them with a #5B lawsuit on why they failed to arrest all the politicians involved in the same act they accused you of, why Ganduje and his likes are anywhere close to power while they're busy running after lil scammers. Call them fools, put it on social media let the world know how stupid and foolish Nigeria government and its agencies are. Bunch of useless piece of shit

I don't have issues with any Nigerian. Anyone above 20yrs of age is matured enough to make decisions that suits them. I won't dislike anyone over their choices, so long it doesn't affect me in anyways.

Thanks

If Bobrisky needs hardcore evidence of other notable celebrities engaged in Naira Abuse, he should reach out to me.

Let him use it to nail others and prove to the court of being partial.

If he also needs hardcore evidence of Politicians engaging in Fraud, he should reach out to me.

Am talking real video evidence.

Sometimes, it's good to know people in low places.

Read the last line again.

If those Celebrities and Politicians don't file for his immediate release ehn, then we have not started.

Sometimes, blackmail is dish served hot.

He is learning how the legal system works in 9ja. If you no get money or influence, No plead guilty ooh!

When I heard bobrisky pleaded guilty I was shocked. How can U plead guilty in front of a Nigerian judge- it's like playing russian roulette with your destiny.
Nigerian judges are very mean and do not understand mercy. The only language they understand is money and influence.
Don't ever plead guilty in a Nigerian court except U are privileged with either money or influence.
Play the long game of adjournment by pleading not guilty. Eventually police will get tired of your case and likely throw away your file or better still just settle them and case close.

It's actually difficult to establish a case of mutilation/abuse in a Law Court, against someone who sprays Naira notes.

When the prosecution has videos of you spraying money (Naira) at various events which by CBN Act amounts to mutilation?

I have seen some commenting that you can claim to be spending "fake" or imitation currency but then you stand the risk of being accused of perjury (lieing on oath) which carries two (2) years imprisonment if it is eventually proven you sprayed genuine naira notes. Why will you risk 2 years for something that carries maximum of 6 months when inside yourself you know you sprayed Naira notes?

Furthermore the burden of proof may shift to you to prove that what you sprayed are not Naira notes and how do you prove that? Judges are not idiots.

Finally the offense of printing money or possession of counterfeit notes carries a sentence of 5 years imprisonment without option of fine. So in trying to run away from 6 months imprisonment, you need to be extremely careful not to run into 2 or 5 years imprisonments that are far more damaging.

I still don't understand why any learned judge would sentence someone to jail for an act that's cultural, though, we may argue that it's "bad culture" to spray money in an occasion but every Nigerian tribe engage in same.

Bob Risky and his so called lawyer being stupid shouldn't make the judge stupid too. There was no criminal offense committed.

The best a learned judge can do is impose a fine in Millions of Naira. The Nigerian government can actually make money from this!!

But then, it wasn't really about Bob Risky spraying money but a punishment to him for being a cross-dresser

What are you saying? Have you forgotten the stigma and abberations of being an ex-confict? It's better to appeal the judgment if he has enough proof to prove his case at the appellate court
Re: Bobrisky Files Notice Of Appeal, Challenges Conviction by breezeng: 10:29am On Apr 23
The prosecutor must have tricked him into pleading guilty by promising him a safe landing. In most cases, the lawyer compromises because they work with the prosecutor behind the accused. Unfortunately, the judge had the instructions of the authority to punish him as a coss dresser. Otherwise, he should have been give the option of a fine.

Exactly what i have been saying ever since here. they cannot prove anything. those dumb EFCC folks are lucky they are not in a developed climes otherwise they would have been faced with different lawsuit of claims from different individuals claim that would have caused the FG billions every year and in turn they will been forced to shut down. EFCC an organization filled with dull officers who got their appointment through corruption.

First of all why do you think it will be difficult for him to prove he sprayed fake notes, and it will be easy for them to prove that i actually sprayed genuine notes. The burden will rest on them to prove him guilty of spraying genuine note and they cannot do that. it will be so easy for him to get one or two people he sprayed the money on to confirm that they were doing a skit and the agreed to spray dummy notes.
Secondly on counterfeiting they have to prove the intention to defraud using the counterfeit notes, before a case of counterfeiting can be established, i can tell you most of our security agencies are so dull. look at EMefiele today with all the evidence around him the EFCC could not even convict him of anything.

He did but why was he given maximum sentencing without fine for a first time offender who pleaded guilty without wasting the courts time?

Did he really mutilate(tear) the money?

Oga,it is within the discretion of a judge to punish a guilty offender however he seems fit.

The punishment doesn't fit the crime. Even the stupid judge that imposed such a hefty sentence on him, can they swear they have never sprayed or been sprayed money before? What Nigerian over 35 can make that boast? Even your president and cbn governor cannot swear so what's the fuss about?

Normally he's supposed to be given an option of fine.

In such case people won't stop abusing the naira especially the celebrities.
