Nobody Can Deny The Fact That The Igbos Contributed To The Development Of Lagos, by Globalinfo247: 8:01am On Apr 25 |
Former Governor of Enugu state, Dr Okwesilieze Nwodo, has stated that nobody can deny the fact that the Igbos contributed immensely towards the development of Lagos, Abuja, and other states in Nigeria. During an interview on Arise TV, Nwodo said if there are 10 markets in Lagos, 7 were built from swamps by Igbo traders. ‘’What nobody can deny as a fact is that the Igbos have contributed immensely to the development of Lagos, Abuja, Kano, Kaduna, Port Harcourt and many other cities. In any city the Igbos have contributed to building, they have come very close second to the indigenous population and sometimes neck to neck. In Lagos, if there are 10 markets in Lagos, seven were built from swamps by Igbo traders, not to talk about manufacturers in that city, not to talk about those who have built residential houses, not to talk about those who have built the hospitality industry....... jeff1993: People move to more prosperous places with more opportunities not viceversa, what's in the East for a Yoruba man that even the natives can't wait to escape from ? there was a report of Indians having more properties than the English in London and UK but you will never see any Indian calling London a no man's land or chest beating that they developed and now owns London especially with the current PM of UK also having Indian heritage. You have not even achieved half of what the Indians achieved in London and UK in Yoruba Land but you are already chest beating like gorillas and always disrespecting the indigenes and natives. Do you have more properties and real estates than Yoruba in Lagos ? No but your people are always so quick to disrespect the people and the place and make empty noise. If your people were the one in the position of Indians that now have more properties than the English in the heart of UK, Your people would have made so much noise and shown so much disrespect to the English that they would have decided to kick you out. If the Indians bought the whole UK tomorrow they would never owned UK and UK would never be a no man's land. How many markets are the British dominating in India ? but you will see several markets dominated by Indians in UK. Why aren't the British trooping to India like the Indians are trooping to England and Uk ? because UK is more developed with more opportunities for Indians. The British would go to USA, Canada, France, Spain etc if they want to look for more opportunities not India. 7 Likes 3 Shares
