The question is, "does Anambra need new government owned schools"?? Anambra state has 179 autonomous communities (including cities and towns), these communities have; - one central primary school each, -one community primary school each -and one community secondary school each. That is 3 × 179= 537 indigenous schools run by the government ( exclusive Hundreds of other missionary schools run by the government at that time). Those of you making a fuse about Obi not building any school, have you asked why Obiano in his 8yrs didn't build new government schools?? Soludo is about finishing his 4yrs and yet no new government schools This claim is easily verifiable, I can use Google map to locate you any community or Central school in any town in Anambra state. Even in the most remote part of the state. I even think the basic education is why Southeast ranked highest in literacy rate both male and female Fergie001 10 Likes

Anambra does not need more schools, what we need now is to make the ones available to be more functional first, let them come up to standard. In the 2022/2023 academic session, the state had 1098 public and 2694 private nursery and primary schools. The total number of pupils in public schools was 255,897 in that academic session. The state also had 263 public and 769 private secondary schools. The total number of students in public secondary schools was 133,741. 3 Likes

PHIPEX:There are communities in Nigeria that do not have secondary schools so they assume it is like that everywhere. In uk, you have govt school spanning decades but we'll managed and maintained. The oldest railway station in the world is in Liverpool and still kicking built in 1830. All it need is proper maintainance. Nigeria lack maintainance culture because it doesn't give politicians outright avenue to steal. That is the only reason they built. And sometimes it's white elephant projects. We have so many of them. Tinubu has already started his. 1 Like |
