The list tells a lot about the choices of the candidates. Unilorin is known for less disruption in academic sessions and it's also affordable. Covenant uni is very expensive. Most students would likely go for an affordable school that also has somewhat decent standards.

You should understand that the best chosen universities are based on capacity of the applicants and the ability of the university to accommodate the numbers of the applicants. You don't dare university of Ibadan anyhow, you go collect 😃

This list influenced by affordability of fees. If LAUTECH(Oyo/Osun state uni)can charge as low as these highly subsidized federal schools, they will probably displace half of the schools in the list.
Especially now the economy a little bit shaky.

Do you know what pre-colonial is? That is before colonialism so how on earth was there education before the colonials or no be colonials give una education? Again note that from 1937 till the civil war the east overtook the West in enrollment numbers. Don't talk about U.I because UI was a satellite campus of Univeristy college London as a matter of fact the first indigenous degree awarding institution was UNN.

Most of those have been the top 10 for decades now... Not just 2023!

I'm just shocked at how Uniben, OAU and U.I fell far from the top of the list.

I think it says" chosen by candidates". Most candidates cannot afford tuition in the school you mentioned, therefore will not chose it.
