What's the science or tradition for burying the corpses at the river bank?

Why in a hurry to sink their dead bodies close to the river that consumed them instead of depositing at the mogue?

the custom was developed to serve as warning to people or children who swim without caution... It's part of the indigenous knowledge, but to make people adhere to d law they tied a so called river god to it.....
