Kenochi:lol, you fail to understand that, under the same landuse Act that you're indirectly referring to, Government has the power to revoke the title documents for overriding public interest, that's exactly what government did. If the owner challenge government, he will fails even with valid title documents. In the case of over riding public interest title documents is immaterial. So what people are saying is that, government should have rerouting instead of demolishing the place as it will discourage other investors even though they have the power to. Aso rock currently sitting on illegality and is not demolish. Aso rock is not in Abuja master plan but government in her wisdom allow it to stand. |

Tinubu is not happy Aliko Dangote is the richest man in Nigeria. Tinubu want to turn his family to the richest and most powerful family in Nigeria and Africa. Tinubu is the major stakeholder of HiTech construction company handling this coastal highway project and other major projects in Lagos state. HiTech have a concession of Lekki-Epe expressway, anytime Nigerians use that road they pay HiTech billions of naira daily. Now Tinubu is expanding his coast to the rest of Nigeria via this coastal highway single handedly awarded to HiTech without competitive bidding. Anytime Nigerians want to use the Tinubu coastal highway, they pay 3000 naira per car for decades. That is trillions of dollars without stress. Tinubu will make most of you regret ever doing tribal politics, wait and see. All the major federal highways are dilapidated, Tinubu did not see them to rehabilitate, he chose to start a fresh concessions coastal highway so that he can have an everlasting stake on it even after he has left office just as he did in Lagos state. They think we all are daft, Tinubu we know your game plan, you can only deceive your mumu supporters. If not for one Nigeria nonsense tell me how can a bloody criminal kleptomaniac like Tinubu will be my President, God forbid |

LegendHero:The whole of landmark initial investment was $200million which includes the main buildings. The demolition of that beach front area of the business has already killed the business, so the business is now more like an ordinary hotel on the Lagos Island. The patronage is dead. I visited there some years back because of what I heard about landmark, and I was wowed on my visit. You will see lots of white folks around on daily basis. During festive period people that returned from abroad troop in there. People even travel all the way from Abuja just to experience landmark. So Rufai is not just talking about the beach front but the entire landmark business 1 Like |

Kenochi:You are not getting the point. Landmark will be compensated no doubt. But it is not about the compensation, Paul is a big boy, it is about envisioning something and bringing it to fruition only for the Govt to say they want to erect a white elephant project. Nobody is talking about compensation bro. Even your ancestral land if the FG needs it you will release it the only thing the FG owe you is compensation. |

Re: Rufai Oseni Blasts FG For Demolishing Landmark Beach Front by LegendHero(m): 5:50pm On May 01 |
franchasofficia: So did Landmark told you that he owns the beach area? Did he purchase the beach from the federal government or what exactly are you talking about? If traders are selling on the road side and government take possession of the place, can you say government demolished their property? Landmark beach trade is temporary, everyone along that axis already know that there is possibility of the coastal road in the future. So the government now asking for their land to build the road shouldn’t be take landmark by surprise because they are encroaching on FG land already. That is why he can’t take the FG to court. All his noise can only end with propaganda and social media. |
Re: Rufai Oseni Blasts FG For Demolishing Landmark Beach Front by SSpeter(m): 5:50pm On May 01 |
Slytiger:It is not about the property, get it, if it was Paul's personal mansion that is blocking the way, I would hire bulldozer my self to take it down. Landmark is Iconic, being there several times. It was a concept he envisioned and brought to fruition. It is not about money or compensation. I don't know how to explain it but if you bring an idea and make it work, no amount of money will make sense for you to give it up. Also, why is everything in a rush, we are going 700km....3rd mainland bridge is 11km and took 14 years, so why the hurry? |

ThatFairGuy1:Can you answer the few critical questions below: 1.) Why was this coastal highway announced in April and without opening up for public bidding and proper assessment, the project was single handedly awarded to HiTech a company everyone knows that President Tinubu is a major stakeholder in, and almost immediately the project kicked off as if it's a national emergency project that must be finished this year for Nigeria to survive, why? 2.) This project will take like 8 to 15 years or more to complete, why didn't they start from Calabar side of the project since starting it from Lagos would lead to destruction of key investments if started from Lagos end of the project, why wasn't this considered if we are running a fair government for the wellbeing of all Nigerians irrespective of tribe or political affiliation? 3.) We have over 60% of Nigeria's existing federal highways in dilapidated state that require urgent government attention to make life easier for Nigerians, why didn't federal government consider fixing those existing dilapidated federal roads first before starting a new coastal highway thar will take over a decade to complete and at exorbitant cost that would have fixed most of our dilapidated federal roads, why? 4.) why is a coastal highway from Lagos to Calabar a national emergency project, more important than other key areas like power, railway, inflation, etc? Can you answer sincerely |

If Nigeria no reach congo level... or divde eheeeee.. Congo is the richest country with minerals resources but corruption backwardness and greed has killed that country with armed groups more the 3000... U want investors and u are claiming land... and doing magic in CbN office to bring dollar rate down I am fully convinced that is dullards that operate in that office... When the seat of power is rotten wetin one go expect?? Congo sent all white investors out of their country and the citizens couldn't operate the machines and companies in 10% capacity.. Once upon a time called Nigeria!! Only opec member without producing refinery.. Very very useless beings before and in power!! |

LegendHero:You guys keep talking about taking FG to court bla bla bla as if Nigeria is USA where there is respect for rule of law. How many individuals have taken FG to court on issues like this and won? Do you think wise Nigerians believe in your court and wasting resources on frequenting your court for decades without positive outcome? And who is talking about ownership here. The number priority of every reasonable government all over the world is to protect their key national investments and investors at all cost because they are the engine room of most countries. No develop nation will do what Nigerian government did to landmark. Do you know why companies don't die when their owners die abroad? It's because developed countries governments do all they can to protect key investments and investors because they are what the country depends on not on some mineral resources. They depend on taxes from businesses not from selling crude oil and here u are supporting nonsense becuase of yeye politics |

franchasofficia: Glad that you know when to shuuuut it up. That question is enough to make you think through your earlier statement and see it’s just plain jargons. Nowhere in the world will you encroach on government property and they give you pat behind and halt public infrastructure because they don’t want to harm “your business”. No business supersedes the government business. |

Kenochi: Thank God you're a graduate, but I'm still surprised you reason like the manner you wrote. Is there still legal jurisprudence in Nigeria? I thought Nigeria has long forgotten about legitimacy of the law and instead embraced "jungle justice" as practiced in the zoo. I strongly believe that Nigeria will find it very hard to ever develop because the number of people with myopic vision and sentimental views far out weighs the people with sane minds good heart. Assuming the owner of Landmark beach acquired the land illegally, what's the economic justification for embarking on such a huge capital project up to the tune of $15 Billion and you're not sure of completing it in 20 years, in the midst of economic recession and hard biting inflation in the country? Even though the Lagos - Calabar highway has its economic benefits, we cannot harness the gains till about 30 years time. There's what they called "Low-Hanging-Apples" that provide the best economic potential for quick wins. Instead of spending this gargantuan of amount money on a single road that we can't see the immediate benefit now, why not build/ rehabilitate similar interstate roads that will provide immediate benefit to Nigerians? Or build more rail tracks to convey heavy Petroleum products instead of the conventional use of Petroleum tankers that constitute serious dangers to the human life. As educated people, we should always put our education to use and proper discernment. Great countries are built because there are great people with like-minds in them. The haste at which this project is being conducted from the landmark segment casts some shadows on the true intentions and honesty behind the action. I'm not an Igbo, before you quickly draw your conclusions. Rufai Oseni is neither and Igbo man too but he's a well meaning Nigerian like many of us not towing the paths of sentimentalism. When I see people celebrating the present government folly today, I simply shake my head in disbelieve. The demon you celebrate today will surely build a mantion in your life tomorrow. There's no place to hide. It'll eventually hurt everybody las las (in Nigerian parlance). |

The government should compensate the owner of Landmark. Arise Tv should take it easy o. Government will pay more compensation if they follow the red axis, more buildings will be affected. |

Kenochi: I am not going to engage you, am just going to ask you some critical questions 1. Do you think the coastal road will be completed in the next 30 years. (Asking because the simple Lagos - Ibadan express road has not been completed and it's over 10 years. Yet, left uncompleted. 2. How do you think the coastal road will answer the question of poverty, unemployment and inequality and lastly improve you personal standard of living? |
