santaclaws: cheating didnt start today but why you shifted the goal post is what i don't get ... Is 264 over 400 so impossible for you to achieve in life that you think it must be thru cheating? that 95% failed jamb is alarming, but does not surprising enough cos anyone observant will notice teenagers are more focus on trends, social media and yahoo its no secret that jamb repeats questions over the years, thats why students are advised to revise pass questions, however if performances keeps descending yearly it only means one thing ... kids are no longer taking education serious infact next year result might be The jamb genZs are writing is not different from the jamb we queued for at afribank ... if we can pass it then these kids have no excuse 2 Likes |

santaclaws: This is not necessary, because from my previous replies to you, you should've known the direction of my thinking. And of course, I will take students responsible for the mass failure, not lecturer. I had passes through the system, so I knew how some/majority of students could be deviance or irresponsive towards a particular course. Lecturing is not the same as teaching, you don't expect lecturers to tell you everything, you are to find solution yourself. Reason they call it higher institution or research. Besides, your last paragraph is off it, you don't address people that way if you want them to respect you or your opinion. |

Abuse of internet by the students. Time spent on social media used to affect the students especially those who did not use the internet for the purpose for which it's designed. 1 Like |

Chemlite: This is the TERRIBLE part of the Whole thing. Our Secondary Students today are so Empty-headed and VERY Poor Thinkers! They want to Study Engineering, Medicine, etc But are Afraid of Chemistry and Physics. The Funny Thing is that If you Take them to Arts Class, they won't still do well in Literature and Govt. |

ben1daEbiri:You will call it a lame excuse because of yr sense of reasoning the fact that CBT has been in existence for hundred years does not make it the best form for testing of students knowledge 6 years spent in secondary education with one week of mock exam to familiarize themselves with CBT possibly the first time in their entire 6 years is completely unacceptable |

[quote author=othermen post=129707894]Of coz one has to understand the issues before solutions can be suggested. But to assume that there is a singular cause of the problem is indicative of no appreciation of the situation. The schools, the students, the parents, the exam body, the ministry of education, the electricity distribution company, the values we have as a country where a random skit maker who does ‘kiss or grab’ is richer than ten professors combined, the government, the media, the groups that give #10,000 to best performing students, and more than hundred million to some reality star, or millions to some instagram twerking Queen or some portable to serve as influencers. Those who have suggested that this generation of young people is some gen z nonsense and that their aspiration should be Ilebaye, the churches and mosques, the financial insecurity, the insecurity of lives, the dissatisfied lots of teachers whose earning only motivate them to show up in school and not make further efforts. And even much more. This is the summary of everything |

Anyone who's not versed enough to take CBT in 2024 should forget about tertiary education. |

Another reason for mass failure is facility deficit in most of the CBT centers. Some centers look mysterious for JAMB to have accredited them. Many candidates would have been stressed after checking them in away from public glare, having to stand for over an hour before being given seats. Rooms not well ventilated. When we got to the center where my son had his exam, I was flabbergasted. Just for him to come out after almost three and a half hours to tell me he had about 20 questions to go having about 29 minutes on his system when they shot down their server, claiming time up. Another son of my friend came out with the same complaint This is a center having their generator shut down for a prolong period of time. I blame JAMB for most of these inadequacies. |

theredaddy: Honestly I'm just laughing here. I can but reminisce reading your post and I agree completely. In my time it was we beleived that jamb had negative marking. Nobody scored above 300. My jamb the highest was in Nigeria was 281 that year. This generation isn't serious that's the truth. Even the parents aren't serious also the country isn't even helping matters. Those days there were academic shows left right and center that we watched and participated in while watching trying to answer and see our score, these days it's tik tok and face book. Then bbn. The country shows its seriousness in the way it treats its old and young. |
