With her negative test result,these are the scenarios:

1. Proper HIV test done. Her result is negative, it means she is HIV-. You CAN'T pick it from her.
2. Proper HIV test done. Her result is negative, it means she is HIV- but if she has exchange blood or body fluids after the test result. She might currently be positive. You MAY pick it from her
3. Proper HIV test done. Her result is negative, she might be + if the test was done before her viral load can be detected by the test. You MAY pick it from her
4. Poor HIV test done. Her result may be false negative, she can be either of both. You MAY pick it from her.
5. Let's assume the case is either 2 or 3 or 4 above and she is positive, you MAY still not pick it from her. The chances of transmission is low even with and infected person especially for the man.

Your only assured confirmation is a lab test.
