A reasonably rich culture should have a gesture for obeisance to elders, kings etc.
You bow down before God or sometimes kings but you prostrate/kneel/bow/bend before your elders. Even God told you to honour father, mother, including elders (I guess).
At least, by now, your common sense should have noticed it's better to make an obeisance gesture instead of just standing chest to chest to greet an elder.
I noticed some women from other tribe now adopting kneeling down. It's just a common sense thing especially for an African.
