Get any utility bill (water, waste, Gotv/DStv subscription receipt, even a VTU receipt of your service provider i.e MTN,Glo or Airtel). Will suffice.

You are funny sorry to say. So you do not have a family house? (asin since them born u,, na for the university campus u don dey do your life)? That was why she sef gave you a ridiculous answer that you should go and get Nepa bill from the university

I guess your account is tier one account. My wife experienced the same situation sometimes last year and it was resolved through the same process you stated up their. Please cooperate with them.

If it wasn't, then your response holds no water

Which address did you use for the account?

If it is the school address?

Anyways, change the address you used and use your home address and present utility bill for it - NEPA bill, water bill, security or Estate levy receipt etc.

Or you can actually go to the admin of your school and explain to them the situation. They will give you the bill. That is if you used the school address.

The day my sister sent me 5k and i went to the bank for withdrawal den con tell me say my account don enter dormant. I asked the cashier that when money wan enter the account e no enter dormant na when i wan comot the money e enter dormant abi, oya close the account nd gimme my money. We drag am till manager con carry me go him office, i still insist dey should close my account gimme my money and let me go. D manager sha later tell the lady to open another account for me and transfer the money there same day.

What's the need of having bvn,nin, int'l pass, driver's license, voter's card?

Ask them for account closure form. Give them another account in another bank to transfer your money to. They dare not refuse unless they have genuine reason with evidence.
The worse the bank will do is file a report with NFIU. If they delay, sent mail to the Consumer protection department of CBN. Check CBN website for the email handle, and don't forget to copy the customer care of your bank.
But at least you will have access to your money and you can open a bank account on a fresh note.

I had same issue with fbn months back, the contact person was telling me some information was not constant and that they can get someone from the court to do affidavit, I wasn't having the time, besides how will my information not be constant, I stormed out of the bank thinking how to creat time again, then I thought of trying ussd, voom it went, I transfered everything to my regular account. No time

Any I mean any nepa updated bill then u have no problem again .

Every tenant is entitled to using the utility bill receipt of the building, just as the same tenant is entitled to using the building as his or her residential address.

Illiteracy or wickedness is the reason your hostel management will not give you a utility bill receipt of the hostel. Unless you are an illegal occupant.

You are not ready yet. You could have politely asked her how you can go about the NEPA bill and they would suggest other alternatives. You are not the only student in your hostel that have such issue and they were resolved in other ways without requesting for NEPA bill.

Stop using foul/derogatory language. By Nigerian law, if you receive any amount above 50k at once or 300k cumulative, and your account was opened as a small account with low KYC, you need to upgrade with proper documentation. The bank did the right thing. He didn't politely ask for other alternatives apart from NEPA bill. If you go to the bank and you are trying to form right, you may not be educated on other ways to fix the issue and perhaps done instantly.

That is another way. But I have also seen a situation whereby someone just went to the bank to open an account just a day after the bank officials came to verify if he actually lived in the house.

That's supposed to be done to all accounts opened. But due to laziness, almost all banks actually agree that they have visited your house and confirm you stay there even though they didn't.

Are discos still giving people utility bills? In this prepaid meter era?

I guess it's your bvn details that didn't match your account details..To correct bvn details, it takes 48 hours.
For the utility bill, if your parents live in the same town you opened the account, you can use that bill..You can use your school hostel receipt in your name too.
They just need proof of address from you.

Take ur school identify card, admission latter, screening form to d Bank, ur issue will be solve without further delay.

First bank is a terrible bank I dumped them for OPAY since last year and I hv never regret my decision for once. No more stamp duty, Card maintenance plus all dere useless charges and no fear.to make use of my card unlike be4 that I wud always scare for debit.. l swear I have peace of mind now

Normally, the turn around time from nibbs is 48 hours..I guess gtbank didn't submit your request to nibbs on time.
