I certainly agree that road must as a matter of urgency be built.

Many people opposing this project are just trying to be smart by half and are not seeing the big pics.

The benefit of such roads cannot be over emphasised considering it will be traversing 9 states in Nigeria and will also aid in opening her adjoining communities or states for economic growth.

Roads or infrastructure like this is what makes our so called 1st world to be what we know it to be.

The Lagos Calabar coastal road can be liken to the i95 out here in the states .... With a length of 1,924 miles (3,096 km), the I-95 is the longest north–south Interstate and the sixth-longest Interstate Highway overall which cuts across 16 US states.

It remains a fantastic piece of infrastructure that has aided movements of goods and services from the north and south of the US un interrupted for decades now.

FDR (Franklin D. Roosevelt) conceived the interstate highways system and Dwight Eisenhower implemented it when he enacted the 1956 Interstate Highway Act.

Opposition was rampant, cries of communities displaced, inequity etc were the orders of the day.

At its completion, it ushered in the greatest decade in American history (1956-1966)

Sounds familiar?

1. Good project, but not a priority at this time, especially as there are already roads connecting those places which if repaired for a fraction of the figures been bandied about as cost for the project, would serve same purpose of the new road for majority of the masses.

2. That it didn't go through due process is a red flag.

3. That Chagoury (Hi-Tech) is single handedly building it it is a red flag. He was a known bagman for Abacha and a personal pal of BAT. Go figure.

4. The FG has been dodgy on the project costs and funding details. Red flag.

5. A critical look at the road plan reveals 2 things. First, it would primarily serve eko Atlantic residents/users. So it is an elitist project. Second, looking at eko Atlantic city map & expansion plans, the road serves as an excuse to acquire more lands for... you get it, the 'elites'.

6. Elites love staying near coast lines. So, they are trying to connect themselves.

The project was over inflated with over 10 trillion. 80 percent of federal roads in the country are in extreme bad shape. The other day 100 vehicles were burnt while stuck in traffic at oil mill road, one of the federal death traps called roads.

Probably the SS governotd have been included for an unsupervised 10 or 20 billion naira sign on paid to the governors of the state for consultative services, the criminals have rushed out to come with an acceptance speech. If the president was truly doing this as means to connect the entire south, or the SW ans SS, or even only the SW, wouldnt the man have declared this same budget for fixing of all federal roads starting with the SW and then maybe SS, then to the SE and continue anti clockwise until it gets to the northwest? they didnt because most of the federal roads already there have been contracted to different companies , so the money would not be coming to tinubu and his lebanese friend. They would not benefit from that. So they chose to abandon completely the bad roads, which are in use and start a new road which we dont even have feasibility of where they would be built, but they have transferred over 10 percent of the money for the kick off of the project, Their minions are on front page trying to tribalize the issue. Even if these criminals are to proceed with the project after stealing over 10 trillion, there is no practical way that they are able to go past ogun state in the remaining 3 years of this presidency. That shows you that the real intent behind the project is not for the benefit of the masses.

If you are a free thinking nigerian, just look at the front pages of any stories of this matter and you will know that truly all hope is lost with regards to nigeria. Paid illiterates are on front page trying to tribalize this Outrageous grand theft by the government

Rufai claims there were 57 active businesses that were impacted. Since he is now the mouthpiece of those businesses, can he list them?

As far as September 2023, talks began with HiTech on the project, where was Rufai Oseni? Why didn't he raise the alarm then, WHY NOW?

While raising the question about Landmark properties and alignment, Rufai Oseni refused to admit whether Landmark violated the right of way. He also did not state whether Landmark illegally utilized the asset in question. He also did not address the fact that only a marginal portion of Landmark was affected.

When the initial propaganda failed, they shifted to EIA and EISA. The Ministry of Environment already said they issued a waiver. But Rufai Oseni, who requested access to the audited books of someone's private enterprise, is not satisfied.

He also claims the owner of HiTech is Tinubu's personal friend. Does he want us to discuss his boss' personal friends and associates? Did they not give media protection to Emefiele, Okowa, PDP and Atiku? If they didn't, why were they hell bent on humiliating Tinubu with their boss even writing to accuse Tinubu of Noriega moment. If there was no personal or business interest for them, why did they take it so personal?

Then they accused the minister of staying in Eko Hotel and Suites; what has that got to do with anything?

On the surface, Rufai Oseni and Arise News have serious questions; but the questions are not balanced, because they have not asked Landmark questions. They have clearly taken a side and they are fighting for either personal or business interests. Yesterday, it became clear when they interviewed a former Commissioner of Police. The conversation was accusatory and not intermediatory. Answers provided by the government are never acceptable to them, but they believe everything the Landmark CEO says.

Rufai Oseni, you claim to fact check everything. Please fact-check whether Landmark rightfully owned that land and whether he was cleared to build there.

One more point to make: you claim there was no stakeholder engagement before demolition. David Umahi sat down in your studio to say that he met with the CEO of Landmark and that they adjusted their plans to spare his properties. You also asked why properties not previously marked for demolition and outside the right
of way were demolished. As a journalist, you ought to be aware that notices of demolition were sent to all affected parties and they complied.

How come only Landmark is complaining?

What is Arise News/Rufai Oseni's personal/business interest here?

PS: When a former editor and a firmer executive director of PUNCH newspapers had a fight over one of them allegedly collecting millions of naira from corrupt politicians and businessmen to give them positive press coverage and kill negative stories, both of them were forced out of the media house. It became clear that some journalists used the media to promote personal and business interests. So if you see any media house seemingly pursuing or protecting someone's business interest, even at the expense of the public good, money is involved.

How come Channels TV, NTA, TVC or AIT are not fighting or protecting any interests? Why certain journalists from certain media houses?

Rufai Oseni asked to see the account statements of someone's private business. Can Rufai Oseni publish his own account statements so we are convinced he did not receive a PR contract to use his platform to demarket the coastal road project
WAS HE WRONG?

Road that will never be completed. I hope you eat your words after five years. We have power drought, food inflation, fuel scarcity.. why not channel the huge investment into Agriculture? The power sector? Abi dont you think if food is cheap people may not have to steal or overkill on hustle to get a square meal? Or if the power sector is up and running at optimum wouldnt that bring investment into your country? Wont it save the need to always buy diesel to run your hotel? Profits will be maximum.. But you you prefer them build a road that cuts across 9 states so you can be doing siteseeing abi? Is there any state in Nigeria you want to travel to toda that there is no land route to? Mtchew
If the coastal road eas leading to another country it would even be much better.. Here talking about connecting communities.. Bro i dey Delta if i need something for PH road dey.. if i need fpr Kaduna Road dey.. The FG should put our national money into something meaningful to the "common" nigerian.
