Topman7: Nice one there. That's how another daft was asking of the economic benefits the 3rd Mainland Bridge added to Nigeria. He must've been too dumb to realize the thousands of economic activities now ongoing around the iconic bridge were not always there until the edifice opened up the highly hitherto sparsely inhabited areas, including OWORONSOKI, BARIGA, IFAKO and GBAGADA axis, not forgotten the OGUDU and CAR WASH, to rapid development while still continuing to create thousands of employment DECADES AFTER ITS COMPLETION. Just leave them, their problem is hate and the thing's eaten deep into their brains that they can't think reasonably anymore. ALL WE MUST CLAMOUR FOR AS PATRIOTS IS THAT SUCH PROJECT MUST GO ON DESPITE THE CRITISM AND PESSIMISM. THEY MUST NOT STOP FOR ANYTHING. |

Keep decieving yourself, you are comparing yourself with China? How many years it take Nigeria government to work on Abuja lokoja road and several roads like that? |

Murketeer: Why must I chose one when I can implore for the priority of the two? Look, the advance countries and cities you see today don't develop by venturing their focus on a sector while relegating another to the background. They won't be that developed as we see them now if they'd planned their development like that. There'll always be rehabilitation and/or maintenance works to do (even in advance countries) but it doesn't always stop them from investing in new terrains or development. The two can and must go hand in hand for faster development. They should be working to better our electricity supply (like they're already doing), invest more on our security strenght, continue working on bad roads (like they've been doing), invest more on health facilities etc, but they SHOULD NOT BE AFRAID TO START NEW BENEFICIAL PROJECT TOO. Obi and Atiku were just harming their chances by voicing against this project BECAUSE THEY'RE STICKING WITH THE NORMS THAT KEEP US BEHIND IN DEVELOPMENT. IF WE WANT THE RIGHT CHANGE, WE MUST START TO DO THINGS DIFFERENTLY BY PRIORITIZING DIFFERENT FRONTIERS ALL AT ONCE AND MAKING EFFORTS TO ACTUALIZE THEM ALL. |

You cannot tackle all those without investing in infrastructures that raise the values of land and bring in investments that will give jobs to Nigerians. Disney World alone is the highest employer of labor in Florida. While I understand the sentiment around Landmark, it is not Disney, and we can produce many Landmarks with this Coastal Road. My guess...Tinubu Govt hired consultants who told them what needed to be done ASAP to transform the country, and this must have been one of them. The pace they are going with this road is unprecedented. I know they also plan to move stuff from the PH refinery along this road, and with the rail, they can transport Petroleum products. It is also a great alternative, so they can divert traffic to the new road to repair the old ones. One of our problems in Nigeria is trying to repair roads still in use. We need alternate routes if we plan to be like the West. yawehoverall: |

CommonSense1967:It's a good project no doubt but the timing is the problem. That project will not finish in 4 years but the people can suffer for 4 years. The project should have waited till there's stability in the economy because people can always go to calabar or rather have been going to calabar before now. That money could have been put into Agriculture and boost food production. 1 Like |

Re: New Coastal Scenic Highway In China's Hainan Usher In Diverse Tourism Experience by CommonSense1967: 2:06am On May 07 |
Empresa:First, the road is not expected to be completed in 4 years. No one have said that the whole road will be completed in 4 years. Secondly, the govt is only financing 30 percent of it. Private investors are financing the remaining 70 percent. If we should follow your logic, then 3rd mainland bridge would not have been built because there were other alternatives to going from Lagos mainland to the island. Buhari should not have built the 2nd Niger bridge because the original Niger bridge is still there. |

aguluobi:it is not a priority for now,it is not a priority for now!!! If buhari administration did most of the roads this project will be a good thing but not for now at all. The federal roads in Nigeria are very bad especially the Benin-lokoja axis even the Benin warri road is not 100% done,I heard benin-asaba road has potholes but that Benin-lokoja is a very important road that links South south to Abuja and north...... Everything should be a step at a time not Rushing things. |

Too many sycophants for NL! Hahahaha! Una dey mad plenty plenty! Before the coastal road project in Hainan, it’s tourism sector was already in optimal shape because the state government and private enterprises had invested, and are still investing heavily in the sector. The govt didn’t start by building a coastal highway. No! It stated by creating the right policies that enabled investors to invest significantly in Sanya, Hainan, Haikou. The govt also invested highly in security measures by installing security cameras in every public places. The government there didn’t put the cart before horse like is the case in Nigeria. A coastal road in Nigeria is a laudable project, but it shouldn’t be of top priority to the government at this time. Rather than investing in such a massive project, the government should invest heavily in the railway sector by building railway lines across Nigeria. The government should invest in stable and affordable electricity supply as well. Electricity na life! Also, the government should invest in security infrastructures because without the safety of lives and properties our tourism industry WILL never grow. After all nobody wishes to be kidnapped while on a holiday. In conclusion, now that the government has already begun the coastal road project, If the Nigerian government is truly committed to harnessing the full benefits of this project, it must invest in the building of a stable, significant middle class because they (middle class) who travel the most. |

Re: New Coastal Scenic Highway In China's Hainan Usher In Diverse Tourism Experience by Empresa: 7:16am On May 07 |
CommonSense1967:Please don't compare those two projects to this one, the reason is because the economy at that time wasn't this bad. It's a good project like I said, people are well misinformed these days. If the private sector has started it and the govt comes in later, maybe there won't be much noise. |

ONNYX: My brother na lie. The said private firm does not have a dime to build the road. Who dash them 14billiondollars? Government would secretly fund that project just watch. Another abandoned failed project loading. PProjects go through rigorous screening and feasibility. They also include EIA. No legitimate good company would risk 14billion dollars in nigeria of today. |
