There is an agreement to it. It's not stupidity. It's not the fault of those countries that Nigeria refused to get it's acts in order.

For example the niger river flows through Guinea, Mali, Niger,and then Nigeria. Any of these countries could dam the river and produce electricity, but Nigeria did the damming upon an agreement which Tinubu is about to renege on.

And not everything is about Obi.

Better that way. Still wondering the essence of giving your neighboring countries electricity while you dwell in darkness is absolutely foolishness. Nigeria is the market and should be the industrial hub and manufacturing clusters that our neighbouring countries depends on. So, we need more energy than any country in west Africa.

Water Law and it's Agreement is the reason why we supply them power.If they choose to Dam the River before it gets to Nigeria, we won't be getting the needed Flow for our Hydro powers .
This new Agreement, I hope the ministry of Water Resources was properly informed, of not it Is a waste of time as those countries can sue Nigeria .

One reason is because compared to Nigeria, those countries are in near-total darkness.

Access to Electricity in Nigeria is around 65% of the population, while in Niger for instance, it is 14%, ie barely 3 million people out of their 26 million population.

So it’s actually a moral duty that we help them, even if we are also struggling.
